I am new to PHP so please be patient with me :)

I am getting this message with a certain script although I get a similar message with scripts that are trying to access MySQL

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Lost connection to MySQL server during query in /freeola/users/0/1/sr0171110/htdocs/forum/createdb.php on line 5
Can't Connect to Database: Lost connection to MySQL server during query

Line 5 of that script is:
mysql_connect($db_Hostname, $db_UserName, $db_Password) || die("Can't Connect to Database: ".mysql_error());

The settings I am using are:

$db_Database = "forums";
$db_UserName = "sr0171110";
$db_Password = "********";
$db_Hostname = "FREEOLA";
?>

I have tried changing the hostname to lowercase and also trying localhost instead but it still comes up with the same error messages.

Is this to do with permissions?
Thanks
Steve Watkins

No, MySQL is totally, 100% free. Apparently it's a security issue.

As for a way to get round it, I don't know. You could try signing up for various free webspaces and see if you can access the MySQL databases from Freeola, but it might be quite slow at times. Go to http://www.freewebspace.net/ for a huge listing.

Is this what I mean about MySQL not being secure?

As for the original question... no, I don't think you can access

Yes, perhaps it could be an incentive for people to come here to get MySQL access :)

It's called tForum version b0.915

I got it from some PHP script site - I am not having much luck with using CGI things so I noticed that you just place the PHP in HTDOCS to get it working and they worked ok so I stuck using PHP scripts as I am new to it.

It's a BIG shame that MySQL is not supported as a lot of the scripts I have been looking at require this basic feature.

Is it an expensive item/program/whatever it is to install or is it just down to it's lack of security.

Also is there another way around this problem?
Cheers

Due to a loophole (which I am NOT going to tell you) I can see all of f2s's databases. However, after 5 minutes downloading the table list it had only got to "d", so it was taking ages to get the list and I just couldn' be bothered.

So, he's probably seen my plan for world domination too ... damm.

Anyway, back to this post, sorry, but still seems MySQL isn't enabled for us Freeola Webspace owners, although I'm sure it's gonna come about somehow, sooner or later, I'm sure Andy said it would be.

Just don't let Turbo get at my plans this time around :o).

How the hell did he figure that out??

You mean everyone who had a MySQL Database set up, Rob could mess about with it, or just see it?
