Football Manager 10 is the only game I play on my PC. Was just wondering if anyone else plays it/used to play it etc. because there's quite alot to discuss within the game (ie. Wonderkids, tactics etc.)

I decided to take the brunt of it. Lost 3-0 in the end. At least I got a message afterwards telling me Torres was fit to play. Next match is Blackburn. Should get a comfortable win.

How's everybody elses current season going?

You could try playing a little deeper but not too deep. If the pace is really hurting you down the flanks, you could make the left and right back defend, as usually the default in most systems is support. If there are certain players that worry you, you can man mark them or tackle them hard to rough them up. Playing slightly narrower makes it harder for teams to play through the middle.

The squad I've got just aren't fast enough. I got told before the game that Arsenal had a speed advantage. My plan was to hit on the counter. With Torres and Gerrard out injured and unable to lead the attack, it seems impossible to get even 1 goal in.

You may think playing extremely defensive is the way to go but all it does is invite pressure. The way Arsenal play in particular means they are more likely to break down a defensive formation.

I'm not sure if it is the case in FM as I don't play in the top leagues but Arsenal don't like the physical game and putting pressure on their defence is usually a good start. Try to break up the Arsenal passing quickly as they will tear teams apart with the ball.

I've become extremely annoyed with FM in the space of a night. Playing as Liverpool, within the first 4 weeks of the new season, Gerrard has been injured 3 times, and Torres twice, and both of them happen to get injured just before the important games. Was playing Arsenal, fielded an extremely defensive formation, with literally every defensive tactic in place, with all players back. Arsenal still manage to score with ease. What am I supposed to do if the players are just playing aweful (they've got high morale and good condition)?

Oh, and Gerrard was inspirational in the England match tonight (speaking as a scouser ;D). Hope he carries it into the new season. Thankfully no injuries, was dreading Johnson or Gerrard missing Arsenal (like in my FM season >.>). Hungary's goal didn't cross the line either. The rule as far as I know it is the whole of the ball has to be over the line, and from the replays I saw, that didn't happen. They really need to implement a system soon. Fooey on the cost of it, it takes nothing to replay a 'goal' on the big screen for a few seconds and enable the whole stadium to see the replay. In about 10 years, they'll probably have another 10 officials on the pitch that stand in the box, in the goal etc. seeing as they do such a fantastic job.

I'm currently managing Olympic Lyonnais. but I haven't played since Liverpool rejected my £70,000,000 bid for Torres.

Might get back on it tonight actually while watching the England game. Nothing like playing FM10 while hearing the England players get booed.

I couldn't get into FM10. Dunno what it was about it, but I can't enjoy it as much as the 09 version.

I figured it would be tougher on the PC. I've previously signed bargains on pre-contract and then can sell them to a premiership team for £30m a few months later.

I've had a lot of people not interested in coming to my team on the 2008 version though.

It's near enough impossible to get young stars for nothing if you're a big club. I tryed to get hold of Everton Reserve Jose Baxter, valued at £1.2M, Everton wanted £5M for him. I happen to know he becomes a fantastic striker, so was willing to pay the price tag. Baxter refused to join a rival merseysider apparently, despite the ridiculous wages and signing on fee I was offering him.
