Sony can at last cut themselves a little slack as their share price has hit a 5 year high today. They hope to make much less of a loss on their PS3 sales than during the various launch phases and although they're still not likely to (ever?) see a profit on the PS3 itself, it's considered highly likely that sales of the console will pick up further, allowing Sony to make money back from games.

To help boost this, and take some of the sting out of the arguement that the PS3 is currently not worth buying due to the lack of original exclusive games, they've also announced that they're pushing for at least 15 exclusives this year (though they mean financial year, so expect some of these by March 08). These do include downloadable games such as Warhawk, though.

Many people think Sony needs to cut the price of the PS3 to keep up with Microsoft and Nintendo, but they're obviously trying hard in other areas to make the console much more of a worthy purchase. The main launch game which attracted people, Motorstorm, is getting an upgrade soon to provide more, much needed, game modes and a few bug fixes. They really need more online modes for it as well, though, in my opinion.

Good news for Sony, nothing news for everyone else. You cant launch last and at twice the price of your nearest rival and expect people to hand over their money. A price drop is the only way most people will even consider buying a PS3 and the longer they leave it, the further behind theyre going to fall. It says a lot that i could walk into pretty much any shop and pick one up, there's little demand.
