Number 1 is the reason today and it is to do with the Gamecube storming the US on its release on Sunday. Ok so it cheated a little by selling some a day early but that is besides the point in one day Nintendo sold over $1 million worth of Gamecube’s outselling Harry Potter also released that weekend. Nintendo of course are delighted to hear people stand in a que for hours to get the Gamecube hearing how Walmarts an other leading retailers all over America were selling out I spoke to a fellow American and he claimed when he went into his local Walmart all they and left was Luigi’s mansion, Wave Race and Madden with only one Gamecube in stock.
The massive success of the GC is good news reassuring the future of the Gamecube and proving the average Japanese launch was just a one off. But there is erm how shall we say an odd felling inside me…
I am a Nintendo fan but the success of America, which involved more sales of the Gamecube than the X-box, is disappointing because I’m not just a Nintendo fan… I’m a European. If Nintendo were a success in America they would allocate more stock to them, stock coming from guess where, you guessed it EUROPE. The success in America could mean a delay in Europe something we have all been dreading. Nintendo did sell between 2-3 GC titles for every console bought the top 3 selling ones being, Luigi’s Mansion, Star Wars Rogue Leader and Wave Race in that order. 2 of which is made by Nintendo themselves so much of the revenue could of come from software rather than hardware nevertheless the US success could prove to be a problem.
We might get a bigger and better picture when we find out exactly how much of the 700,000 Allocated Gamecube’s were actually sold.

Now then, lets take that against the Playstation2 launch game to console figures... Ha!
Well done Nintendo.
Oh and if you were wondering what the PS2 figures were it was about 0.8 games sold per console for the US launch, less in Japan... HA!
Hmm.. XBox... how many did you sell per console? Well, people had to carry the console home in groups because of its wait, sadly nobody can actually be bothered to go and by a game of fear they might break their back.
