Playastation 2: The 3rd Place... This has really been bugging me!
What is the 3rd place, what happened to the 2nd place? As I thought the real world is the 1st place and the PS2 is 2nd...

While watching ThumbBandits I noticed that there were no weird PS2 adverts. All it was was a quick little preview of a game, and right at the end the PS2 flashed with underneath saying "The Third Place"
That fishing advert actually detours me from my PS2, they should show that wolfman one,that's class.
I have the one true answer. And it's:

I did a bit of web research on this question and finally found the answer:
TBWA London are the advertising agency with Sony PS2 as their client.
They said: "[The Third Place] is a place you go to when you're gaming, it's not work, it's not home, it's the third place. Whatever you want to do or be you can pretty much find a Playstation game and go and be what you want to be."
So now you know.

come on! the 3rd place ads are a crappy attempt to make an ad that makes no sense, so people try to analyse them, and start to find meanings in them that aren't really there so Sony look like they've done an intelligent marketing campaign!

All it is, is a good advertising strategy, it doesn't make much sense so people remember it.
Look at you all talking about it, it's what Sony are good at brainwashing you until you actually beleive that the PS2 is good, come on people snap out of it, they've got you trapped and you can't get out.

I always thought it was like this.
There are two places, one when you are awake, and one when you are asleep.
