I would welcome any new good racing game but have my doubts, prove me wrong please....

I've had Burnout 2 a long time now, and still find myself going back to have another go. There is a guy (James Walker) in PSM2 who has set the most incredible Burnout 2 records, and I keep trying to reach those targets. I am level with a few, but on the whole, I'm a couple of seconds behing, and that really gives me something to aim for.
Anyway, I was getting a little diverted then, but basically I think you answered your own question when you said that Midnight Club was getting good reviews, but nothing special. You'd be better off looking for something that really is special, but through age has become a little cheaper.
(In my opinion etc...)
Cheers.
It's fun though, already there's a bunch of us online racing each other regularly through the Parisian streets and LA suburbs. Online mode was a little dissappointing in that there's nothing to show for it, no laptimes saved or records set, you just login, race (or play capture the flag/detonator) then say your goodbyes.
But the racing itself online is megafun, and a good taster of what Gran Turismo 4 might offer in the future. (I hope they have some kind of leaderboard/laptime recording function online as well, because you really do need something to show you've been there or else what's the point?)
"Argh car! Noooo, going to hit building! Smashed through window! Where am I! Argh jump! Falling! Rolling! Turbo! Crap, wrong button! arghhh!" Etc.
Spent ages on Saturday racing against Dice, finally winning 1 race to discover that there's another even more difficult one. This is a tough game!!
Although the first guy you race in Paris is quite amusing......
The crashed aren't as good as Burnout 2, but there is a lerge fun factor here, even if it does get a little frustrating!
But to be honest, it was visually impressive, and I suspect the reason I got bored was because I had no idea of where I was supposed to be going - an instruction manual would probably have helped a great deal!

That is a problem, especially on the mroe difficult and complex races. Because you can take any route to the next checkpoint. It usually takes a few (or more!) attempts to get the best route, even without considering short-cuts.
It's worth it though!
