i read the other day that the council in luton are considering banning christmas there because it'll offend muslims. Am I the first to say or have the balls to say .........erm so what if it bloody does?
Last time i checked i was in England, a country of freedom where we can express our opinions and ideas freely (well supposedly) why is it people can go around in our town squares burning images and figures of our prime minister and degrade our country yet we can't celebrate a damn holiday just cause it may offend a minority.
If we're going to ban christmas how about banning ramadan cause that may offend christians, oh wait no i forgot nowadays if your in a majority your not allowed to say a damn thing otherwise your a racist, sexist or any one of hundreds of terms all the PC people and do gooders have managed to come up with while trying to make this world a *better* place.
Even if they do ban christmas i don't give a damn either way if remembering the story of the birth of jesus and reflecting on all the good he did in his life, putting some decorations and tree in my house and exchanging presents with my loved ones makes me a racist then ah well i guess i'm a racist but either way i don't care, i'll go on expressing my ideas and feelings cause this is England and i can do it.(until the do gooders get around to abolishing that right as well)
If people can go around burning things in a town centre then i think i should be able to have a peaceful celebration in my own house with my family and celebrate my faith

Word man. I second that motion. I am not religious at all and this basically explains why. A lot of relilgious people are hypocrits. Not all, but a lot. I have no wish to be involved in Religion at this current moment but that may changed in the forecoming years. At my old school, they made us go to church instead of having lessons - which proves my point over and over again.

PS the last thing about me not being religious was not a knock at people who do have a faith, I'm just pointing out that some 'religious' people are sp hypocritical like they have all these ideals, and then go out and kill people fighting for some 'holy land'.

Belief makes you strong, but I choose to believe in other things than a god.

yeah, I mean Christmas can hardly offend them, nowadays it is just a commercial festival for the latest kids fads, and screwed up corporates to produce crappy cards. If it offends anyone I would think what Christmas has become would offend the christians who still remember what it is about. Shall we ban their holy days too because we are offended by them? No that would be racial dicrimination wouldn't it? Only because it's politically incorrect to offend any fecking minority, who gives a crap how mich it pi$$es off the majority?

No wonder I hold no religious beliefs... If they argue about stuff so petty and fight and die to control a piece of land when they could co-operate and both live there (like in the middle east) then I have no wish to be a part of it.

Christmas offending Muslims? Bollards! How can Christmas offend them if they play no part in it? As the expression goes, "what they don't see can't hurt them". If we wanted to be funny to Muslims, we could say that their festivals offend us, but that would just be out of bitterness and not very characteristic for any British person. If Muslims don't like Christmas, then they haev something terribly wrong with them or their religion does. Can't we all live in harmony without all this fuss? No wonder there's wars these days.

I think it's at a pretty sad stage when people feel the need to resort to this absurd political correctness and 'positive discrimination'. If we could all just repect each other and accept our differences there'd be no need for any of this.
I have a dream... : )

That's the problem with equality in the UK... it's all one-way traffic.

There are lots of stories I've read and heard about, but I won't begin to tell them here as I'll lose my rag and end up being barred.

You can't please everyone, so why not try to please the majority?

Nope, that's racist/prejudiced/etc.

There are some interesting philosophical arguments floating around though. I don't remember the name of the guy who invented the theory, but there's the one about the best course of action being the one which resulted in the greatest 'net increase' in happiness.

Of course, despite ethical theorists harping on about this theory, you'll notice how it would never be considered in a 'political' situation....
