I always thought he was called Tony Hawks, but no, apparently it's Tony Hawk.

And the game is Tony Hawk's whatever, not Tony Hawks' whatever.

Does anybody believe that these games (meaning extreme sports games) need to feature real people that do these sports?

I wouldn't know a proper pro-skater, BMX-er or in-line skater from a made up one. Would you? Would it matter if they weren't real?

Anyway, played Tony Hawk's 2 on the Playstation at the weekend, and it was much better than I expected, nice, simple, fun.

Crappy Playstation pad made my finger hurt though, my brother broke his sticks playing the game, so the pad was the only option!

you might have touched on a new game format there...

ex-mate pummeller alpha turbo!

create an opponent to look like someone you hate, then rip his head off in Mortal Kombat style.

It's a winner!

Dave Mirra 2 is fantastic, plus it has the advantage of someone from my hometown and near to my house as one of the characters.

And his stats are rubbish.
And you can smash him into cars and make him smash his nads on railings.

Excellent

Regardless of who the game is named after, it's how it plays that counts, and if Joe Bloggs skater 3 was a better game, that's the one I would buy.

Dave Mirra 2 has a rider from Harlow in it.
He's terrible and I take great delight in slamming him into walls and floors, seeing how badly I can hurt his computer-alter ego.

Excellent.

I'm just waiting for "McDonald's Car Park Racer" to be released.

I annoy my friends by constantly correcting them when they refer to him as 'Tony Hawks'.

Isn't there something slightly more impressive about a game that features real names?

Using real names, real moves, real locations and whatnot... doesn't it go some way to 'knowing' more about that sport? Isn't that something which people like?
