Some times the original of a song it way better than the cover eg. Voodo Chile, but sometimes, the cover is better eg. Smooth Criminal. What other examples are there?

That cover of "Kung-fu Fighting" wasn't bad I suppose.

Faith No More did Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" which was groovy. And they did Lionel Ritchie's "Easy" which was good, too.

Wheatus' version of Erasure's "A Little Respect" is alright I suppose.

Gun's version of Cameo's "Word Up" was brilliant.

Geri Halliwell is a cover merchant and most of them stink anyway. Here's my favourite out of the following songs.

Raining Men - Geri Halliwell.
Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm
Lithium - Nirvana
Oops I Did It Again - Travis
Faith - Limp Bizkit

I was very skeptical when I first heard about covers, because I thought (and still half-think) that it's really plagarising someone's song for an updated look. In some cases, I can even make the song seem worse than it is. Covers often do no favours for bands, as Lithium by Papa Roach especially, as that stood out to me as being the worst cover I've heard. Then again, I haven't heard many covers.

Greendays cover of 'Operation Ivy's song called 'Knowledge'. It is on GDs 1st album, 1,039 smoothed out slappy hours. Op Ivy rool too! They are late 80's Ska Punk, and some of op ivy went on to be in Rancid!

Limp Bizkit's Faith was a much Better cover.

Any thoughts on Feeder's cover of "Can't Stand Losing You"? It was originally done by The Police in case you didn't know!

Rolf Harris:
covered Bohemian Rhapsody
Stairway to Heaven

Madonna:
covered American Pie, in my opinion Don McClean's version was far better.

I doubt you've probably heard of either of these but how about...

Song - Band who covered (Original Artist)

Fade to Black - Apoptygma Berzerk (Metallica)
Nothing Else Matters - Apoptygma Berzerk (Metallica)
Live and Let Die - Guns n Roses (Wings)
Comfortably Numb - Sister of Mercy (Pink Floyd)
Cars - Fear Factory (Gary Numan)

I'll be back with more no doubt!!
