No, not normal. We've had a couple of technical hitches with the new server which has meant that some people have not been able to access the site for a couple of hours. We are currently working as hard as we can to get the glitches corrected.

And yes, we realise that the clock is currently still on BST and is 1 hour fast. Please bear with us for a few more minutes.

I was getting worried, not being able to long in and all, my accounts working now though phew!

Don`t ya just hate it when that happens!

The biggest problem is the DNS propogation (if that's the right word). When you link to the internet your ISP has a DNS server which carries all the server addresses for all the domain names in the World.

Presumably this DNS server gets its information from some big chief DNS server. We've told the big cheif that we have moved but it takes quite a while for the little guys to catch up.

So - we are partially invisible. In fact we could not even see ourselves for quite some time there.

UKchatforums has moved several hundred miles in the back of a van, and has a brand new server installed in a nice new rack cupboard with some new server friends.

We moved it because all the flack on the forums was upsetting some of the other servers here and we don't want them to go on strike at Christmas.

Hope it settles down soon - we tried to do a seamless change but clearly in hindsight it would have been better to tell everybody in advance to expect some disturbance.

If I enter the site via the FrontPage, I still cant post any messages...

No... I think maybe your jumping between servers?

I jumped back to the old server about half an hour ago... (which is much more popular than this newer one)

and then jumped back somehow?

Its all very confusing... but I'm sure it will all work out?
