4000 characters is too short for a review of a game. It is (usually) fine for a film review but not for games. Game reviews are much longer as more detail is needed so could you please increase the length allowed.
I know that you probably don't want to sit through reading loads of unnessecarily long reviews but perhaps you could increase it to 5000 characters.
I currently have a Game of Death review done and dusted but it is around about 4700 characters long. Now that is long for a film review but I needed it as their are so many extras. I can't really shorten it down enough without losing a lot of important parts so I have 2 options:
1) Post it in the reviews section in 2 parts which I did once with a Winback review on the N64 but I don't like doing it.
2) Post it in this forum but I don't like doing that either. I've had to do that twice recently as the reviews system would not let me post reviews. (I will post these again in the reviews section, not in an attempt to win but just so I have them posted up there - I don't want all my hard work wasted).
So please, raise the characters allowed length to (at least) 5000. It would be an enormous help as seldom are reviews longer than that.

Learned that in English, I did. Passed with an A at A-Level standard, I'll have you know.

I agree with Bonus - half the skill is getting everything in the 4000 characters. You shouldn't really need more, you don't need to describe every little detail of the game. It'll probably make you review better in cutting out those extra 700 characters (or whatever it was) - you can loose the weak bits and be left with a pure trail of reviewing goodness :)
I think 4000 characters is an excelent level. It requires the author to show skill in writing and only include the most valid and worthy points. No one wants to sit and read a walkthrough or detailed deconstruction of a game when they are considering buying it. What is needed is an article which glances over the main content of the game and emphasises more on the atmoshphere. 4000 is more than enough to review any game.
Yeah, it used to be 10 000 characters and I can see how that could be a bit long for someone to read through in order to pick a winning review but I think 5000 is fair.

The_Vottanator, that is a very good idea. I am having to post all my reviews elsewhere, because they normally excede 4000 characters. Even when they dont, the review system is messed up. Anywho, I might write a review now to test if the system is working yet. Cheers. Gaming Guy.
