Is the P.C the way forward in modern videogaming? Unlike consoles P.C's can be constantly upgraded, but is this actualy cost affective? Three months ago 128mb ram was seen as great but now it's average -512mb ram anyone? As for me? Well I'm staying firmly with consoles, as there is no slow down, hardware problems or need to spend £300 on a graphics card evey 6 months. Is P.C the way forward? Well for word processing it is, but as soon as the three gaming giants of Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft bring out their latest incarnations; we'll really see what format rocks the gaming world.

I will always play my PC and consoles. PCs have good controls for some games (RTS, beardy/classic RPGs, FPS) and so do consoles (Racers, Platformers, beat em ups, and FPS if u have a decent developer, eg RARE!).

Consoles u know stuff isn't gonna crash (actually I have a 2nd hand version of Mario Kart, and stuff goes wrong with it. Once and only once it locked up in a battle on the skyscraper level, and sometimes it runs faster than normal, especially on the DK jungle level. Most of my mates now know this and if it happen I just yell "Its gone TURBO!" and its actually really fun!). They also are just plug in and play. No installing etc. maybe u do have to install on X-box cos it runs on windows but I really don't know.

But PCs have more flexibility, like u can often make your own levels in games (Half-Life is a prime example) and patches, add-ons, and mods are available.

There is one very strange problem with my two P.Cs which has puzzled me for quite a while:

Why can my old, Win95, 0.79GB HDD, 200 MHz, 16MB RAM computer run Worms Armageddon, when my new 800MHz, Win98, 10.6GB HDD, 64MB RAM computer can only run the menu, not the game itself?

I'll still be using a PC.

I do a lot more than just play games on a PC.

Infact, PC's are what make games for all consoles! The GameCube's development kits are PC's!

Games like Max Payne are only good on the -now- top range P.C's, if you have anything less you are going top see that dreadful slow down. But the PS2 and XBox versions are going to run at a comfortable 60fps. So is P.C really such a titan of the industry?. Well I can't complain, I'm writing this on a P.C. But as soon as the network browser for the PS2 comes out, I may not use my beige box in the corner -that'll probably be 'old skool' by then.
