I can fondly remember those day's, back in the era of the dominating Sinclair Spectrum.
Games came on cassette tapes, and copying them on HI-FI cassette recorder's were the norm, although, I of course didn't take part in that!, heck I was too young to know!.

Anyway, each era of gaming has their own quality title's and even one's that rule the roost.
Well, In my opinion and many other's, Sabre Wulf was that game, keeping many youngster's and adults alike up to all hours with it's sheer addictiveness.
Back when they were still known as Ultimate, the young Rare developed this game. Looking back on it now, the game was 'Top of the range', yes, even with its clickety click sound effects and blocky visuals. But then, It was something Spectrum gamers were not used to, It was bright, colourful and ran smoothly.
Chances are that few have played this game, so Rare have seen fit to overhaul the title for the new century. The result? One of the GBA's most promising titles to date and one I can honestly say I am really looking forward to.
We were hinted of a Sabrewulf arrival during a cutscene in Banjo Tooie, so when the announcement arrived it didn't shock and surprise. As for the plot, it sees our hero, 'Sabreman' on the trail of his nemesis Sabrewulf - who, under the leadership of a mysterious master is stealing valuable artifacts from all over the land.

During the Spectrum original, Sabre wulf the character, actually took a back seat and you only witnessed the 'wulf' chasing you at one short point of the game.
It Is nice to hear of the title character make a bigger showing this time round, hopefully giving us a title that is reminiscent of the original but with the expected 32 bit added boost.

But as for the gameplay, it supposedly puts the player in an adventuring task, the sort of gameplay that was evident in Lara Croft's outing on Gameboy Colour, but with superior visuals, gathering Items and artefacts will supposedly remain consistent.
To retrieve these precious jewel's, Sabreman will have to venture deep into the Sabrewulf's many dens. Of course, being the wily explorer that he is and we all know of, he's got a few tricks up his sleeve that should prevent him from becoming wolf-bait.
The creatures that inhabit this world each have their own unique skills and abilities, and with a bit of exploration, the player can collect these animals, and then use their special abilities to avoid tricks, traps, and obstacles in Sabrewulf's dens. Sound's simple and similiar, but according to details from Rare themselves, various aspects and gameplay will be unique, making the title more worthwhile.
Players will apparently have to construct obstacles and traps to slow the 'Wulf' down, giving our hero that little bit of extra time to make it back to a 'Tent' which seems to be a safe 'base' to strike from.
And as for a release, Interesting to say the least. Gamer's and fanatics the world over have had no details regarding a release, but even in these early stages it's apparent it will be one of the GBA's best looking titles. In that front, It'll not be suprising, since Rare is known for pushing any system they work on to its limits. It will be a stunner, Iv'e no doubt about that!
But as for remaining hopeful, well it seems just that, Rare's previous handheld efforts on the GBC were rather lacklustre when compared to the company's glorious console efforts, but with the GBA I am hopeful they will do it right.
Maybe it will be the start of many remakes of all the golden oldies of yester-year with the added boost of technology at hand. Hopefully, Attic-Attac, Underworlde and even Jet Pac will all see up-dates on the lines of this.
Here's hoping.... Rare?, Get at it!!

Any Sonic games (preferably from the Mega Drive era) being put onto the GBA? I loved Sonic 2...

I wish that someone makes a remake of Repton for the GBA!

I'd luv sooooooo much to play that game again on the GBA!

Also, I wish that in the remake of Saberwulf that Rare also put the original version in there as a secret game to be unlocked. It'd be AMAZING to play that again, on the GBA!

:)
