I don't think they'll have a market to sell to, to be honest. Everyone loves their software, but we're happy playing it on the current generation of consoles.
I reckon they should stick to what they're doing now and continue to make money.

What??
It may be safer if they remain a software developer, but if they pull it off, they could do very well, especially since ALL Sega games will be on ONE console. A Sega console, where they should be.
IF they do release another console which I think they will one day, I really hope it does well. I think all Sega fans share that view.
But Sega have done really well in the past few years. Sega are now the kings of style. And I know a lot of people who are no longer happy with Sony. For the next lot of consoles in 4 years of so, Sega could think about reentering the market. Make it a really stylish console, something in black or silver I think, not grey. And have a good marketing capaign.
If the timing was right, then people would buy it for the exclusives. The costs would be a lot, but it could happen.
However I hope that they don't. This may sound odd but here me out. I already own all of the major consoles that are current at the moment, and I'm still paying off my XBox, so cash is short right now.
If I already own all of the consoles that Sega would be brining their games out on, then I don't suffer. Sega have ploughed there resourses into games devloping relying on money from that rather than from games sold for one of their consoles, as a result more Sega games are coming out than ever before, and they are good quality games.
In a way, it could be argued that Sega have become more popular over the years, especially since everyone has had a chance to sample the Sega delights with Sega going multi-platform!
I'm just worried about Sega's financial position! I REALLY hope they can fund this. I just hope that 4 consoles on the market wont be a crowd!
*Lies back and thinks of the possibilities*.... If Sega made another console, it would be AMAZING! EVERY Sega game on a Sega console, no more sharing!!! lol.. If there was a Dreamcast 2 (or whatever it is to be called), that would almost guarantee the launch of Shenmue 3 as well!!!!!!!! PLLEAAASEEEE SEGA, RELEASE ANOTHER CONSOLE!!!!!!!! IVE BEEN WAITING YEARS FOR THIS MOMENT!
(I just hope they can afford it. I would hate it if they got in huge amounts of debt again! Just remember, when Dreamcast was released, it was the fastest selling console every, look what happened!)
I'd say that SEGA's reputation has massively improved over the past couple of years, and if the Dreamcast 2 had every new SEGA game as an exclusive, then a huge number of gamers would want one.
I only bought an Xbox because of the 'must-have' SEGA exclusives on it, and I've heard many others express this view.
Shame really. I would much prefer this to be a Sega, Nintendo and Sony battle, rather than a Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony battle!
