Having seen the film (got to view and early preview - see the Movie forum for my thoughts on the film), it has certainly got me interested in the Matrix, so I'm thinking of getting the game.

If you have it, is it worth shelling out £40 for, or do you recommend a rent etc? Thoughts from people who have actually played the game would be appreciated.

The game, to be quite honest, isn't all that good.

It starts off fairly fun, but gets incredibly boring and repetitive later on.

It's average.

Cheers dooz2k2, if the extra footage is basically trailer stuff I think I'll give it a miss, especially as the gameplay doesn't seem to be that special.

right, i have the game, bought it last week.
to complete it once it took me about 7 hours, but i played through again with the other character to get all the fmv's

its an ok game, theres a lot of bullet-time fun and its overall fun to play.
it is however, amazingly glitchy. cars sumtimes sink into the road in the driving levels(NOT kidding) and invisible walls can be hella annoying.

the extra footage is very nice...but the only bit i find worthwhile is the one at the very end which gives basically a new trailer to the film...but if you've already watched it(lucky sod, i'v got tickets for tomorrow night) thats not really as good as it is for me. also one in the middle from the freeway chase, but that bit might be in the film as well(for the sake of not spoiling for others, its on the freeway and has large vehicles..i'll say no more)

if you are unsure and dont have unlimited cash, just rent it, and then make up your mind about buying it

oh, btw the hacking mode.....very good...possibly the best part of the game because it works perfectly and lets you watch all the fmv's again!

I've read quite a few reviews online, and the general consensus seems to be that the game holds much promise, but seems a little rushed, of course, to co-incide with the films release.

Er...wait - am I answering my own question?

Renting it out this weekend, dont want to fork out £40 just yet - Ive heard more bad reviews than good but still willing to give it a go!

Are you saying that from the prespective of 'I'm a fan of the film but this still sucks' or 'I don't really like the Matrix much and this isn't doing much to make me consider otherwise'?

To be honest, I'm considering getting it just for the promise of extra footage, but it would be nice if a half-decent game encased it...

PLayed it in the shop for about 2 minutes, not because I couldn't have played for longer but because I didn't want to continue.

Absoloute garbage.

The coolest ISP ever!
In my opinion, the ISP is the best I have ever used. They guarantee 'first time connection - everytime', which they have never let me down on.
Wonderful...
... and so easy-to-use even for a technophobe like me. I had my website up in a couple of hours. Thank you.
