Can you say retard?
WOO! 400th POST! YEAH!
*ahem* I'm done.
Visual Basic sucks for making games!
Keep with dark basic.
Where can I get this Blitz Basic from?
I suggest Blitz Basic 3D, its really useful, and a good stepping stone for getting into programming.
Basic is good for making little text adventures. It also good if you like english more than maths.
ie
10 PRINT "Hello, what character do you want to be?"
20 PRINT "1. Archer 2. Barbarian"
30 INPUT A$
40 IF A$=1 THEN GOTO 70
50 IF A$=2 THEN GOTO 90
60 GOTO 10
70 PRINT "You have chosen the Archer"
80 GOTO 110
90 PRINT "You have chosen the Barbarian"
100 GOTO 110
Is this about right? I haven't done basic in about 5 years!
You need to be a good maths student to get the most out of it.
Visual Basic all the way!

I would dive straight in. Basic is a different type of language, it isn't really used for games. And contrary to popular opinion, C++ is not that difficult. Maybe to do really complex things it is, but simple stuff can be knocked up in minutes. Get a good book and work through it properly.
