I'm having trouble getting FTP to connect to a new account I created earlier today.

I have a domain registered with you - mind-war.co.uk - which I can connect to just fine by setting my FTP client to connect to www.mind-war.co.uk - no problem there.

But I've set up another account for a website I'm doing for someone else, and can't connect. At the moment there's no domain associated with it, so I'm trying to get my FTP client to connect to the Freeola1000 address - www.wookieemonster.freeola.com - and all I get is the error:

~ Connecting...
! Socket Error: no DNS entry
~ Could not login to www.wookieemonster.freeola.com

I am also unable to get any connection to the e-mail servers for this account.

Is this simply because the new account taking time to propagate around your servers, or is there a problem elsewhere?

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

IE gives me an error also:

-----

Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder.

Details:
The server name or address could not be resolved.

-----

So it sounds like an SR issue to me - would you agree?

I'm using an FTP client (so no need for 'ftp://') called LeechFTP.

The host is www.wookieemonster.freeola.com as indicated by the online help, the Username is srNNNNNNN, and then the password - everything as indicated ni SR's online help.

I can get in to all other sites with the software, including my domain, with no problem - it's just this new account.

If you have IE, try using that to connect to us, in the Address Bar, put:

ftp://[email protected]

if that works then it's something with your FTP Program. If that doesn't work, then it's something else.

do you have to put the ftp:// bit before the Domain one to work??
What is it exactly your typing as the FTP address, and which program are you using?

It's definitely the e-mail address, at least according to the new set-up instructions...

"Your FTP upload address will be based on your Freeola1000 address or your domain name.

If your Freeola1000 address is [email protected] then your FTP upload address will be www.fred.freeola.com

If you have a domain name hosted on your account your FTP upload address will be www.your domain name"

I've tried both the Freeola1000 address (www.wookieemonster.freeola.com) and the login (www.srNNNNNNN.freeola.com) and neither work; yet my own domain (www.mind-war.co.uk) works fine.

I've sorted the e-mail - that was my fault, as I forgot the '-001' on the end of the mailbox name - but still no luck with FTP.

Try using [email protected]

eg:

[email protected]

See if that works.
