If you feel that way, then yeah, you are probably far more interested in other things involved in your lifestyle. To be honest, music has totally overtaken my life, being in a band and all, but I still somehow manage to have time for epic games, and I definitely don't feel that they are depressing at all. I totally disagree with your opinion on Zelda, but then that's you.
To be honest, I'm afraid one day I might seem to 'grow out' of games, but then I want to be a journalist, and one day could work for, oooh, lets sat Paragon Publishing and do a range of magazines on games/music/cars, etc. Yeah, right now, I'm plugging away at Zelda: MM, and to be honest I feel that the old games are the best - still original in many cases and that sense of nostalgia is just such an amazing feeling.
I dont like the way the gaming industry is going at the moment. Games are soon going to be focused heavily on graphics, and will eventually have no more gameplay left to compensate over that main aspect. Its sad, and one day, I feel designers will run out of ideas, and technology will only go so far.
Its sad.

Hehehe, I was expecting that response. :-)
It's a problem I had with Pikmin too, couldn't stand the fact that there was a time limit on that. And I (now) just seem to find games of epic proportion's fairly depressing for some reason. Not quite sure where the root of it comes from but meh.

Meh, maybe. Zelda's getting a bit boring for me though. During the SNES' heyday, Link To The Past was without a question my favourite game. I absolutely loved it and I was awesome at it, I'm no Twin Galaxier but I could complete it fully in about 5 hours. Time moved on, SNES got sold yadda-yadda. Started yearning for a SNES again about 2 years ago, for four games in particular: Mario World, Streetfighter, Mario Kart and LTTP. When I got LTTP again and played it I was... not satisfied. I just thought it was cack. Mario World, my favourite game of all time, was still awesome as was Streetfighter. Mario Kart was fairly average but still pretty enjoyable but I actually found myself hating LTTP. The Zelda series hasn't really interested me that much since then. I loved OOT when I first got it, but then things got drawn out and boring. Played MM but found the time aspect of it very, very wearing. Didn't bother with WW. I just find them depressingly dull really. I appear to have switched my orientation over the past 4-5 years. I've gone from being a proper hardcore gamer to a much more casual one. Reflected in my gaming tastes, I now much, much prefer a pickup & play game to anything that requires a lot of effort and time.
It's just sad rather than anything else really. Games have been a part of my life for 13 years and I've now just mostly lost interest in them. They were a big, big part of my childhood and are something I look back on with real nostalgia and affection... But I suppose my minds telling me that it's simply time to move on.

See, this is the thing that's worrying me the most. I'm looking forward to Zelda in the sense that it looks awesome, but I'm starting to question whether or not I can actually be bothered to put in the effort required - the 30+hours - to fully appreciate it. I never, ever used to feel like that.

Me too, my last hope is Zelda. Don't let me down Ninty.
Coming back to the growing up thing, I've simply got better things to do with my time and spend my money on now and don't really have the vast amount of time to waste that I did when I was 13. Things just don't seem as exciting anymore, especially not single player games. Obviously cracking out Perfect Dark or Mario Kart for some frenetic multiplayer action is still hugely enjoyable but not quite in the same way it was.
Bah...
So what? They just can't be bothered to move their thumb anymore than they need to.
