I'm thinking of taking a year out before getting a job in the games industry!

Wanna have some fun before ..... well you know, life of a games programmer! :(

Think I might kick about up here for a while. Get some crappy job to get a bit of dosh. The go off somewhere with someone for a great holiday! More than likely the states. Cos it'd be either there or Japan/China, and more ppl I know would be up for the states. Wouldn't go to some gay european country cos they all smell!

:)

If I had the money, I'd go abroad somewhere.
Maybe not for a whole year, but at least for a few weeks or something.

If I do take a Gap Year, then I'll try and do something...
I know that I'm going skiing next-February, in either Switzerland or France. That'll be good. :)
Maybe I could try more things like that; getting around and enjoying myself, so I'd feel refreshed and ready for Uni?

Hmm, I was thinking about a gap year between degree and the next training thing.

Thinking about going to New Zealand with one of those 1 yr working visas.

Only problem would be that you need to show you have access to £1.5 grand when you apply, plus costs of flights.

And as IB said, it might be hard to go back to education afterwards.

On a better note though, I'd be taking monkey work at minimum hours for the money I'd need, and the visa prevents you holding a job with the same company for more than 3 months of your stay, so that wouldn't be a problem...

Hmm...

I don't know what I'd do in a year-off though.
All I can really think of is just getting a job I like (perhaps one that'll link-in with my future plans) and earning some money to start saving for the costs of Uni and the future...

I'm really looking for a break though, after realising that Sixth Form at School really is a load of cack, and that I should've gone to College instead, like so many other people...

I've been thinking about maybe doing College for a year just to get some more AS's as that'd look good on my application...

I didn't take one, but I know plenty of people who did. You spend too long out of education, and you find it too hard to get back into it again. It's especially hard if you get a decent job for a year and give it up to go and earn nothing.

Ermm, Why? Is it because of boredom?

At least I wasn't planning too anyway :)
