Yeah, Anyway. It WAS interesting and it was saying how games currently haven't achieved any real sort of AI in that NPC (non-player characters for those that don't know - keep up the good work) don't have a conscious.
Apparantly, NPC follow scripted actions so it looks like they know what they are doing. The truth being that they don't - they can't think for themselves. But Peter Monolux, the guy behind Black and White believes that characters do have AI but it is currently very simplified, the creature you control on screen in Black & White simply abides by a 'tree-command' system where it follow steps down the tree if it achieves something that has an affect. If it dosn't, then the creature opts for the alternate route on the 'tree'. This is how the creatures 'learns'.
All this was shrouded in mystery with all the interviewees having different opinions but it did say that Lionhead studios have a new game in development that should push the boundaries of AI.
