"Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President, explained that negative attitude towards online gaming with the fact that the big N is not too keen on having players pay a monthly subscription for a game that was bought full price.

Iwata said "I don't think it's reasonable to make someone pay for a game and then make them prepare a network connection and charge a monthly fee. In the near future we are hoping to announce something that address this issue."

According to Reuters, Nintendo is in fact planning an online ervice that will work without players paying a monthly subscription."

hmmm..

For Animal Crossing 2 methinks.

Either way, look to Spaceworld.

I like the idea of paying less for an on-line game that requires monthly subscriptions to play it on-line.

But what about games that are also just-as-playable off-line, too?

No doubt GAME would still charge £40-45, anyway!
(If they even stocked these games...!)

Great News! Gamecube possibly going online and nothing to pay monthly. I'm still dissapointed Mario Kart isn't going online :(

It could be something as simple as selling the game for £20, and if it's something like £5 a month you're effectivly getting 4 months free to try it. And you'd probably have gotten bored by then anyway.

If third parties took it up, I'd probably try PSO online.

Wahts more, with many games magazines comparing online price and availability with in games consoles, if Nintendo do pull this off they Will get lots of publicity for it.

I think that Nintendo will sort out all of its problem, including lack of online, by the time the next console comes out. Nintendo has learned so much from the N64 and the Gamcube, and has learnt it the hard way. Nintendo is not stupid and they are starting to change their act but it will take time. But ti would be great to see the GC online.
