"Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President, explained that negative attitude towards online gaming with the fact that the big N is not too keen on having players pay a monthly subscription for a game that was bought full price.

Iwata said "I don't think it's reasonable to make someone pay for a game and then make them prepare a network connection and charge a monthly fee. In the near future we are hoping to announce something that address this issue."

According to Reuters, Nintendo is in fact planning an online ervice that will work without players paying a monthly subscription."

hmmm..

For Animal Crossing 2 methinks.

Either way, look to Spaceworld.

Ah but not the way WE want to use it... just for transferring data... no hub where you can vist loads of peoples towns and stuff and get cool new items...

That will keep the life-sim lasting longer.

As long as there is the ability to send letters over the net to someone (IE: e-mail) I will be happy. Otherwise I might not bother with it.

If a company the size of Blizzard can maintain a free global online games network, then certainly the like Nintendo can - they'd just need a couple of online killer-apps to make it worth their while.
