Can I take this opportunity to remind people that we have a Freeola Fantasy Football league running for the World Cup. You don't need to know much about football or individual players to get involved.
You get given some 'funds', which you then use to buy 23 players from a complete list of everyone involved in the tournament, making sure you stay within your budget (prices of players range from 1-10).
Once your team is built, you need to pick your starting 11. These are the players who will be playing earliest (they each have a date by their name of when they will next be playing). You can then make substitutes each day to make sure that your starting 11 contains players who are actually due to play a game (players on the bench won't earn you any points). Nice and easy.

2. Sign up & create your team.
3. Click 'Create and join new leagues >>' on the right-hand side.

Not happy already. made some subs earlier this afternoon. And now 3 players that I subbed on and confirmed are sitting on the bench earning ought!

I straight away put Torres and Messi upfront :P Got Terry at the back, quite a few notable players considering the tight budget.
I have Messi and Kalou up front. Ivory and Arge are both going to score goals through these two players. Simple math :)
I am now wondering whether the subs actually earn points for you. Or whether you have to swap them into your top 11 for the games.

And it turns out now that two players on this list are top point earners. I even had the goal scorer in my list. Bleep bleep bleep.

Only your starting 11 earns you anything, if someone gets a goal, but they're on the bench, you earn nought. So you have to keep changing the lineup to suit the upcoming games.
I know this now. That was my point in my first rant, the FIFA site didn't change my players.
