and if it does do all that in this version then it isnt pokemon. It defeats the purpose, if fans wanted that they would play FF, they want to play pokemon not FF thus it would not be a wise move to turn pokemon into a full scale fantasy fest.

Hoorah!
Can't say I love Pokemon, but the game are top quality. This is all anyone ever wanted.

Hope the online bit is only for trading and chatting - so there's an actual proper 1 player game. Mostly because I doubt I'll be playing online for ages.

Because its only one element of an rpg (well mainly one). The capturing, traing etc of your creatures. Take FF for example, you have your main story, your sub-stories, your sports, your weapon building, your magic building, your character building, your aeon/summon whatever capturing/colecting/learning, your aeon/summon building, your chocobo racing, blitzball (lets just say lots and lots of mini games), dozens of side quests and so forth.

Never did i say this was a bad thing, they have focused in on a specific element and explored to its full potential, it just doesnt work for me thats all

Hmmm... I'm intrigued as to what you mean by 'full on RPG' being a big RPG fan myself... granted, I haven't played a Pokemon game since Red, but the only thing I think was 'missing' from Red was a good plotline (and lets be honest, a lot of RPGs have crap, cheesy plots anyway). Granted, the catching creatures element did eradicate the 'Hero' idea that most RPGs have and rely on to account for the player character, but that's just another RPG cliche... not necessarily 'essential' to give a 'proper' RPG experience... anyway, how do you know this Pokemon game won't deliver a 'full-on' (however you define that) RPG experience, having never played it or even seen screenshots of it? An RPG can be a little bit limited on the Game Boy, and this version is on the Cube...

I read something about Nintendo not wantng to go online because they didn't think it was fair to ask users to buy a game then pay monthly subscriptions for the online play... Maybe this Pokemon game will be the start of Nintendo's (hopefully cheap) Online strategy. I reckon a MMORPG (think the SR news article said something about that) is kinda wishful thinking though... more likely as WS said be used for trading, battling, etc. and hopefully there'll be some multiplay minigames too (Maybe something like a Pokemon race where the Pokemons stats such as speed and stamina are taken into account a bit like in FF7 with the Chocobo racing...)

Well. I'm kinda interested. Despite not having played a Pokemon game since the original...

well, if you don't like Nintendo/Pokemon games, then why argue?

Why cant people just accept that other people dont like certain games. I come in and say 'too old for me' and ive got ahalf a forum up my *naughty*, like you should care? I love Silent Hill, i couldnt give two *naughty* about what you all think about it, i like it, i like cheese, i couldnt give a rats *naughty* what you all think about, i like it and to me thats all that matters, what effect does your opinion have on my life? None. So why do you all get so uptight about all this.

i didnt say it wasnt an rpg (how many times am i going to have to repeat myself) i said it wasnt a full-on rpg. Long story short, when you play it you dont get the full-on rpg gaming experience. For me thats a bad thing, obviously for you lot thats a good thing. Either way its just another reason why i dont like it.
