"Who will win the Superconsole race?"

The "superconsoles" (dolphin, ps2, x-box, dreamcast), are what many are to believe, the home entertainment system of the new millennium. The reason people believe this, is because of three little letters, DVD. Obviously, dreamcast does not exist in this race, but the other three, do. In a recent survey asking why people would buy the ps2, most of them, (about 36% I think) said it was because it could play dvd's. People seem to be more interested in the playing of movies than actually playing any good games on the system. Although sales seem to be going well at the moment for ps2 in japan, apart from that kirby business about a week ago, will the games sell that good in a month, or two months? No. The two reasons for this is, there will be not many games, and the population are buying it for the dvd playing capabilitys, and also they get a console chucked in as well.

Forgot to say. There will be no games to play with the ps2 because the technology is too far in advance for many games developers, and therefore there will not be many games actually developed for the system. This is what happened with the n64 at the first few months of its release, and this is what will happen with ps2. But, I hear you ask, what will happen to the dolphin? It's being released by the end of this year, ( next year, the year after that etc.)? Well the difference is that, Nintendo has already discovered the weakness of making a superconsole and then finding out no-one will develop for it with the n64. The n2000, dolphin or whatever you want to call it, will not suffer from this because nintenod has learnt from its mistakes. This may also be a reason why they are delaying it again and again. If they let ps2 get a bit of publisity, let the delvelopers get used to the standards of the processor, and THEN release the dolphin to them, then the developers will be able to develop properly for it as they have had the experience with the ps2. But if this is true, nintendo cannot hold back forever. They need to make the audience get down on their knees to beg for more infomation on the system. Make them get a taste of the blood so to speak. This is fine and dandy, but then steps in the x-box. The dolphin is supposed to run 33% faster than the ps2, but then the x-box is supposed to beat the competition to the ground, and then take on the everlasting PC, appararently. There is no sign of the dolphin at this years E3, but x-box has already had more publisity than the dolphin in one day, Microsoft has released many details such as processor and the actual prototype box as well. So to cut a long story short, ps2 will suffer badly because of no developers, dolphin wont sell unless theres more publisity, and x-box will win UNLESS nintendo draw the public to them soon.
