Basically its a trip down memory lane for some of you to remember dome of the great gaming experiences on systems like the Atari, C64, Spectrum, Amiga, Atari ST, NES, Megadrive etc
I`ll start off with one of my all time favourites
Last Ninja on the Commodore 64
C64: Raid Over Moscow, Crazy Comets, Little Computer People, Mega Apocalypse, Spy Hunter, the Summer/Winter Games series from Epyx, Spy vs. Spy, Ghostbusters, Hawkeye, Beach Head 2, Up 'n' Down, Uridium, Stellar 7, Gunship, F15 Strike Eagle, Infiltrator, Super Huey, Thrust, Sam Fox Strip Poker! And many, many more I can't think of at the moment.
Amiga: Blood Money, Flashback, Leander, Killing Game Show, Alien Breed, Speedball 2, Stunt Car Racer, Microprose Formula 1, Shadow of the Beast, and stacks more - again having trouble remembering them!
Do we really require 18 move combos to punch someone? Do we need to sprain out wrists just to do a backheel?
I know these discussions have limited effect if at all but its good to have a good moan once in a while
Up until getting my PS2 still used my A1200 all the time. You just can not beat the Gameplay and addictiveness of them classic games.
That game was great
The second one was a bit pants and was little more than a levels disc.
The best bits were the jungle levels - I remember the first time I got stabbed by the spear trap - I jamp out of my skin then rolled around laughing as the guy squirmed around screaming on top of the spear
LOL
> yea i still can't get enough of speedball and SWOS. i still think SWOS is the
> most addictive football game ever made.
SWOS was one of the games where the graphics were relatively poor, mediocre sound BUT playability was sky high. I fondly remember being the manager of Skonto Riga(Latvia) and battling through the European Cup against the giants. I always started as manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle (Away the Caley!) and the for some reason I always got approached by Latvian teams to be there manager
I sometimes wish that games designers these days should be made to study early games to understand that the graphics, sound and licence (FIFA, FIA, LOTUS etc) are important but not essential and that the gameplay is the most important factor.
By the way big respect to Rockstar for giving a damn about us gamers and producing the sleep depravating product that is GTA3
Commodore were a great company and it is a shame they are no longer with us
The Amiga was a great leap forward at the time with its quick loading and great graphics. I have a huge collection of old games for it and some of the true classics existed on this platform like
WINGS - I loved that game
SPEEDBALL 2
UFO ENEMY UNKNOWN - Took ages because of lack of memory but was superb
SENSIBLE WORLD OF SOCCER
PLAYER MANAGER - The original based on Kick Off by Dino Dini was superb but once he left the games were pants
INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE
