Some people say that you can only travel backward in time, because that has already happened but you cant travel forwards in time because it is there yet.
But then other people say it is impossible to travel backwards in time because the machine would be non existent passed the date it was built. So you can only go forward in time.
If you could travel at the speed of light, you could make time stand still. To demonstrate this I am going to use a clock. If you are looking at a clock it appears to be running in normal time, but if you move away from the clock time slows down, because the light from the clock to your eyes takes longer to get there. So if you could travel at the speed of light away from the clock the time would stay the same because the light would never reach you.
So does this mean if it were possible to travel faster than the speed of light that we could time travel, some would so no. They say this because we have been told that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. But why cant anything travel faster than the speed of light? Even light takes time to travel from a to b, this is why it takes light hundreds of years to reach us from stars. So surely if something could travel that time in less distance it would be faster than light. Just because we donít know of anything that is fast than light (at the moment) does that mean that nothing can travel faster than light? Perhaps a machine could be made to travel faster than light.
What do you think/know about these problems?

Anyway back to reality. My theory is that you can travel back if you can manage to split space from time. then you could move backwards. The only problem is that as soon as you re-join space and time that would be the present and so you would have erased all the years you have traveled through and so would not be able to travel back to your present.
I dont know. What the hell am I. The lord of knowledge? :D
Nah.. Im not sure about it. It will most certainly happen in like 3000 yeras :)
As you get faster, you gain mass. No matter what force is applies to accelerate you, your mass will increase to an extend that the acceleration becomes negligable. You will get closer and closer to the speed of light, but not reach it.
That's the current problem, anyhow.
