The game forums are closing, so i am moving the popular FF forum here. No spamming, just 100% FF. Let's start with a question.... which of the FFs is the best?

well i haven't played the full version of 10....but i've heard that's great...
i would love it if they redid 6 in full 3d with nice graphix though.
sidetracking slightly though....i DO REALLY WANT SOME OF THESE RPGS made by SQUARESOFT which were released only on the US and JAP PS1:
Chrono Cross -has got EXCELLENT reviews (Gamespot gave it a 10, IGN gave it a 9.7)...released around 1.5-2 years ago -it's prequel was called
Chrono Trigger (released on the SNES and also on the PS1 later but only in US) which i'm currently playing on my snes emulator and i think it is BRILLIANT...probably better than FF games i have played
Xenogears -has also got good reviews (IGN gave it a 9.5 i think)...also get to battle in big mechs and chain together combos in battle
Parasite Eve -strikes me as quite strange how they would release II over here but not I...anyway I is regarded as a lot better than II (I've got II and it's okay but i've found it too easy at the moment).
Final Fantasy Tactics -i think this is being released on the gba but it's been out on the ps1 in US for ages....loadsa abilities, job classes, skills and characters! maybe the reason why i rebuy a gameboy advance
These 4 games (and some others such as valkyrie profile and legend of mana) above especially Chrono Cross are making me consider buying a US PSone...

i'd have to disagree...apart from the fact that both use turn based combat...they are very different. in pokemon games, the only real story it has (from what i can remember when i played it) is that you go around trying to win medals...and collecting pokemon...the story in FF games are a LOT deeper (FF7 has to have one of the best and weird storylines). The battle mechanics of each game is very different as well etc....don't get me wrong...the pokemon games aren't BAD but given the choice i would go for FF games (even the snes ones which have similar graphics to pokemon ones) -FF6 is PHAT but the graphics aren't great are they now

i'd have to disagree...apart from the fact that both use turn based combat...they are very different. in pokemon games, the only real story it has (from what i can remember when i played it) is that you go around trying to win medals...and collecting pokemon...the story in FF games are a LOT deeper (FF7 has to have one of the best and weird storylines). The battle mechanics of each game is very different as well etc....don't get me wrong...the pokemon games aren't BAD but given the choice i would go for FF games (even the snes ones which have similar graphics to pokemon ones) -FF6 is PHAT but the graphics aren't great are they now

yeah you can't get into the menu screen but then i wouldn't really see why you would want to seeing as you don't pick up any weapons or items along the way.
the problem i have found with squaresoft games is that all the secret stuff/sidequests basically require a guide for you to access....how many of you seriously would have been able to get knights of the round materia on FF7 if you hadn't used a guide or FAQ...all that chocobo breeding, location pin pointing etc. i'm playing chrono trigger at the moment (on my snes emulator) and have been doing all the sidequests but only cos of an faq.
the actual main game isn't too hard to beat though without an faq...i just wish that they would let you find out about the sidequests more easily

Speaking of FFX, I've just been playing the demo that came with OPS2M#20 and I've noticed that there is no way to get to the menu screen or status screen for the charachters, I dont know if its the copy I got or is it just that you cant access it in the demo? On a different topic I like it so much that I'm going to get it when it comes out with the official guide, also I've been wondering when is coming out, OPS2M say 1st of May while every shop I've been to say 31st May?
