FF7s intro is good because it leaves a lot to the imagination, you don't know much about the main characters yet, and you learn the basics of the controls quickly. In all the others you pretty much know where you are and whats going on. Other than 10, but then you actually know why it doesn't make sense.

Hmm...I'm bored, so a new topic of debate.

What is the definitive intro to an Final Fantasy game?

I say Final Fantasy VIII, because of the superb intro music and the flower petals and Rinoa all together.

I just love everything about FF games, apart from when you're trying to get somewhere and you keep getting into random battles, this got better after 7 though, because the airships could land in much more places other than just on grass like the Highwind. 8 for some reason just didn't do it for me though. A bit too confusing at times, and the whole junctioning system was just annoying to get to grips with though.
My favorite of them all is 7, the only thing that could make it better would be something that could completely deactivate random battles instead of the stupid 'enemy away' materia and maybe a PS2 graphics makeover.

Re-started FF9 today. Easily the best opening.

7's was too vague - in 9, they tell you what you are doing, in 7 it's 'Come on, we'll be late' and such.

8's is too confusing because it plonks you straight in that huge building, and the tour you give that lady doesn't help you get your bearings.

10's is just a cut-scene with a few button presses to get through buttons. Still cool though.

The randomness of the storylines. Like the guy who made them says, I'd rather make a stary than make a game.

Or something like that.

Sephiroth, best ever FF bad guy!
