Today at around 8pm, i sat down and thought, "hmm what shall i do?", i have played my ps2 games to death, most of them are completed except for GT3 which i thought i would leave alone for a few days before i get too frustrated with it.

Anyway, the thought then sprung to my mind, why don't i play any of my classic games?, they were just sat there gathering dust, in their little psone cases just sat on my shelf. The first game i picked up was crash bandicoot 2, i loved this game when i first got it about 2-3 years ago now, and even now its still so fun to play, the gameplay is still great and its was just so fun to play , with crash pulling his funky moves when you finish a stage, which still makes me smile, its reminds me of the brilliant days of psone gaming.

The next game i picked up was Ridge Racer, don't ask me why, but i just felt like playing some of my really old games, the graphics look colourful, yet so dated, its amazing the difference in how far games have come since 5 years ago, when you look at games like ridge racer , you have to remember, these games made the games that we have now, many of us forget about these games, you may think they are boring but believe me, you try it, go and play some of your really old games and you will be so surpirsed at how much you enjoy them, some even as much as the new ps2 ones, they have their place in history, especially games like ridge racer/tekken/gran tourismo, we must not forget how these games have changed the industry, major leaps forward in graphics and gameplay, tekken for instance shocked everyone with how fresh and new it was, the combos, the characters, the stages, look it it now, still going strong, true the ridge racer series is now getting a bit dated because nothing new has been done with it (apart from the graphics and the odd gameplay tweak), but i'm sure RR6 will change the game for the better.

About an hour through playing some of my games, i realised how much fun the games were, you would not think about going back to some of your games, but some of them will remain in my collection for many years to come, because for me they hold memories of when i first got my playstation, i remember the day, tekken 2 was the only game i got with it, seems only yesturday since tekken 2 was the best beat-em up game ever, and look now, we have soul caliber,Dead or Alive, which have been influenced by the tekken series in some shape or form.
That Grey Box, holds so many memories for me and many of us on these forums, playing many games, it was the essential thing to own from 1995 up until just before where we are now, the playstation should not be forgotten, it should be remembered for what it was...A Slice of Gaming History, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Remember the adverts?, "Do not underestimate the power of the playstation", many peoples faces would light up after seeing that advert, because it was true, it was underestimated by many people and even today almost 6 years on its still producing games, that entertain people, graphics arn't everything and the Playstaion proved that, it still shifted more untis than the DC and the N64, it came out on top, i'm sure sony didn't expect it to, but thanks to the playstation we are now graced with the power of the playstation 2.
The ps2, and the gamers owe it all to the playstaion, i'm so glad that the Playstation2 will help the Playstation live on by being backwards compatible..

One questions begs...should the Playstaiton2's power be undersetimated?...simple answer is "no", the playsation was a warning...don't underestimate the power of the playsation..

thanks for Reading :-)
