WHy do we always look forwards? Trying to see what the future holds in the world of gaming. Why do we do it? If you think about it, it makes no sense.....why begin to want a new game when there are plenty of classics out already.
Were living in the future.......reality is the present and we have to remember that. I constantly hear people talking about the direction online gaming is going and I think, "Why bother? Whatever happens is going to happen so you will have to take it as it is when it arrives anyway". Counter Strike, Tactical Operations, Unreal Tournament and Red Alert 2 are all online games......big fan bases as well. These are the people I like. They don't spend their time wondering whats coming next, they get out there and play the games they love.
Of course, this completely kills the purpose of the FOG (FUTURE of gaming) as a place to talk about what is coming next. If it was up to me it owuld be a place mainly to speak about the present and what we have right here, right now. However I know this isn't going to happen so I will shut up now.
The reason of this topic? I wrote this (patheticaly) short topic to get the fact that we shouldn't always be thinking ahead...sometimes we have to bite the bullet and do what the present hands us.

The PS2 is the only next gen console out and people discuss the past present and future of that console in the PS2 forum.
In the near future (like next month) a whole world of damn fine titles hit the PS2 and so few PS2 gamers will be on here because they'll be playing the present rather than discussing it. Thats the thing see, with the future you have no option but to discuss it, you can't play it because its not here yet.
X-Box and GAMECUBE are what a lot of the PS2less folk are waiting for, why are they waiting? Because at the moment these little box's of joy (well one little and one gargantuan) are nestled nicely in the future.
Ping! Tarrant is finished!
I'll soon by

Good on you Strafex...although, did you used to own one? If you did, what in heavens name made you sell it? I still have mine, although the sun has made it go a strange yellow colour :S
Still, other than the Mario games, others like
> F-Zero, Kuru Kurin (I think that it's called that) are new.
F-zero isn't new at all really. Its like the Snes Version of Mario Kart to the GBA one. Just a remake with new tracks and cars probably.
And Mario *Kart* Advance
> did have completely new tracks AS WELL as the classic ones.
Certainly does. I playedon it at my mates house expecting to be really good at it due to my days as a pro on the Snes, but straight away I was plnged into a track I had never seen.....that was before he told me where the old tracks were on the menu :)
I'll

And I will play on all of my friends GBAs :)

The only problem is, they cost atleast 35 quid.
Little bit steep, especially when you compare their devellopment costs to the costs of producing a Playstation game.
I'll just play on my brothers for now. :-)

So, I say again, it's a sad fact

Well the N64 is pretty much dead and we're left with mainly old calssics to play on.
The wait until March?
That's the Gap that the GBA fills.

Well obvious the next big thing is the release of the GameCube and the X-Box and then probably on-line gaming. All of which will improve the industry (well they should anyway) so what will be after that?
I think that soon in the future we will see the next step towards fully interactive 3 D environments. Picture grand theft auto 3, one of the most wanted games right now as there are little restrictions on the character, you can roam the city and interact with people and cars. In the future it should be possible to take this to the next step, allowing you to go in and around all the buildings, make use of nearly every object that is available, ie have true real life situations and problems that can be solved in the same way you would in real life.
Also similar to this we may see less of a linear approach to most games. Usually with most games there is a start and an end and a straight path between them which is the only way to complete the game. In the future we may see games that progress on how you react to different situations and the attitude your character adopts along the way. I.E you could stay and fight or choose to run away with each situation leading to different places and endings.
Of course things will improve in the future, we may see a whole new way of playing them and new ideas in games.
Should be good for us.
Ever been in the Nintendo

Certainly have....never again though. Full of spammers.

I don't think that Pikmin is an online game
