Upon my travels on work experience this week I met a computer game artist. Believe me this was one experience I wont forget. As I was setting out to install a new ADSL line. I had to venture into his room. Well it was quite a surprise to say the least. 62 empty beer bottles were scattered around the room. Along with 23 empty cigarette boxes. The game project was Street fighter 3 for the Gameboy advance. This version was very pre-release as it is not out in Japan for a month or so yet. The game was very good but the effort put into it only as the game artist was astounding. 80 hours a week he had to struggle through of designing the game from a low spec PC. Not quite what many people would expect as a dream job at all. The game project was postponed from July and is still in production. So those of you who now go around complaining about the late release of games here is your reason! I certainly think this man should be given respect for what he has done for the gaming industry. Ladies and gentlemen please, pay your respects.

Can you imagine how dull being a games tester would be?!

Go into a building, play games for 9 hours, come home.

True,I love playing games but I could never ever EVER do it for 9 hours solidly!

The money aspect shouldn't be important for game artists, they choose the job because they love it, and they have lots to offer, obviously you won't find anyone who will work for free but......
oh well, it's nice that you could meet one, maybe you could go to a well known game producers HQ and ask for a look round or something?....

Well, 80 hours a week sounds like a rubbish job but when you've got 60 empty beer bottles around you you can hardly complain.

Pah, rubbish. We all know that they really live in castles and work only when they feel like it.

Ignor FFF.

He's classed by most as the forum idiot.

As fot this Game artist, I suppose it depends what game and company you work for.
Or perhaps he got the rotten jobs while a more experienced and profession artist worked on the more exciting aspect.

It does bring working on games to a more down to earth level though.
