Hey pb

Do you have one of the PINNACLE - PCTV thingies?

If yes...

Which one do you have?
Is it good?
Easy to install?
How many programmes can you record and how long for?

And generally, is there anything I should know before I buy one?

I'll probably get the £54 one, don't really see much difference between the three though.

Thanks in advance if you, or anyone else can help me.

What's this PCTV thingy? Does it make your P.c work like a T.v or something like that. I take it you need to have an ariel going in and I also guess that it goes inside the P.C base unti and links up some how? Where would the ariel go in? Would I need special wires? Could it also take videos too if it uses a normal ariel?

I'll have a quick look at them on here and see if it makes any sense. Might get some answers by looking at the products in question.

Okay. Thanks.

D'ya think I should get one? I've not got very much money to spend on one, so bare that in mine.

Thanks again.

Somebody Call? Damn! My net time is dwindling these days.

Yes, I do have a Pinnacle TV card, It's the StudioPCTV Rave one. It's not bad, though there are better quality ones now, but I wasn't complaining for £20 (returned to PC World with no instructions).

The cards are easy to install, just whack it in, pop the disc in and it auto tunes like a TV. I'd recommend an internal one though, I've seen some of the external ones and the delays in recording can be terrible.

Results depend on the speed of your PC/Hard Drive though, and you need loads of space to record in highest quality (about 1gig for 30 minutes!). Still pretty watchable in the lower quality though, with double the recording space. You can MPEG the files up afterwards as well to save more space if you're sending them on a disc.
