(The narrator speaks in a low and scary voice)
"In the middle of space, all alone, lies a lifeless spaceship. The engines have been completely destroyed, and will be days, perhaps weeks, before any help will come. How did this happen? Well, IT WAS ALL THANKS TO THE MASSIVE 17-EYED, GREEN, FURRY, CLAWED, SHARP-TEETHED, COLD-BLOODED MONSTER-ALIEN!!!! This beast was created by a scientist, and as usual, the experiment went wrong. The creature escaped, killing the scientist at the same time."

"The only members of the crew left are Man 1, Woman 1, Man 2 and Woman 2. These four brave men have no idea how to stop this monster, and all they carry are lots of big guns, which seemed to appear from no where."

The four people find a sheet of paper in the laboratory.

"It says here that we can only destroy it by going into Storage room number 3 and finding some sort of special weapon." Man 1 told the others.

"What floor?" Man 2 asked.

Man 1 gulped hard, "Level 3."

Woman 2 cursed, knowing that the monster had made a little 'nest' up there.

"Well, we have to go, don't we?" Woman 1 asked.

"Only one of us should."

"I'll go," Man 1 said strongly, "If I'm not back in 30 minutes, then I'm dead."

The others slowly nodded, and Man 1 made his way up the steps to level 3. As he got to the top step, they crumbled beneath him, leaving him no way of getting down by himself. He would have to call the others...if he survived.

As he walked along the corridor, wires hung above him, all ripped in about 16 different ways, most showering sparks. All the bulbs had been blown, and Man 1's only source of light was a small torch. He turned a corner, and was greeted by a disgusting scene. Blood and guts everywhere, splattered on the floor, ceiling and walls. He thought he heard something behind him, and he quickly turned. Nothing. He continued on to the storage room, when suddenly there was a rush of wind behind him. He turned, and still there was nothing.

When the huge monster ran at a very high speed straight through the wall to her right!

"AHHH!!" Screamed Woman 1. She'd brought a weapon with her, and she began to shoot wildly. She hit the monster a few times, but it didn't make much difference. Bullets flew everywhere, destroying tables, chairs, windown etc. The monster finally backed away, and with a shriek ran back through the wall it had come from.

Woman 1 breathed a sigh of relief. She went over to the snack cabinet, and began grabbing packets of crisps when the monster came from no where, smashing her head against the cupboard. Loud, fast-paced music starts, trying to shock the audience. The camera focuses on the dropped crisps, and all you can hear is Woman 1's loud scream, before a horrible cracking sign signalled the end for her.

Okay, that's the end of my mini horror-movie. But I was watching Deep Rising the other night, and this thought came to me. Most horror movies (not all, but most-especially the ones with monsters and aliens,) have that sort of plot. People get split off from the group, and get killed by whatever it is that's stalking them.

What I've also seen happen before is them scaring the 'thing' off with large amounts of gunfire, for it only to come back by surprise a few seconds later.

The viewers are really an imitation of my family. Whenever watching a movie like this, we guess who's going to die next. Who's turn it is to kick the bucket. Now most of the time it's very predictable. Usually, 8 times out of 10, you're right. Now usually predictable equals boring. But perhaps not in this case.

I find it very entertaining to guess who's next to be murdered in a most disgusting way. Although I didn't rate Deep Rising highly plot and actor-wise, it was quite entertaining at some points.

But then again, a little less predictability could be even better. Occasionally I've seen it happen, where you expect someone else to be killed, and they survive and someone gets their guts wiped all over the place.

Perhaps this is why these sorts of movies are so popular. Films like the Alien series and Jurassic Park (I have to admit, one of my favourite movies ever,) are highly recommended.

So, I hope directors continue to make movies like this, but hopefully they can add a better plot overall and a little less predictability.

Yeah, the whole thing was mockable.

And I watched Hollow Man again last night. That's pretty funnny as well although it's not as hilariously bad as Deep Rising. Kevin Bacon should have been dead about 4 times before he actually died and then they just climbed up a ladder. Why didn't they just do that in the first place I ask. Oh yeah, I remember, they wanted to 'take him down'.

Do you remember the scene where the bloke and the woman escape the flaming ship?? In that little Speed Boatm they fly out of the ship just as it blows up! It was like something out of Power Rangers or Superman! :D

In fact, that post did remind me of deep Rising even before you mentioned it.

Deep Rising was so bad. It was so bad it was hilarious. Joey did have some quality lines though but it was so obvious he was gonna survive. As soon as he survived the scene where he got shot in the leg you knew he was gonna make it to the end of the movie. Even when it looked like he had been sucked out the window of the boat, you still knew he was alive because the guy took the time to sit down and mourn his death. And then when they were on the island, you still knew he was gonna come back for one final scene.....and he did. On a surfboard I might add.

Awful film....unintentionally hilarious. Some of the lines were supposed to be comedy though.
