Sony will have no complaints if the X-BOX topples it because it comes out at the same price as the PS2 did with the same accesories in the package so all will be fair and equal in that department. The X-BOX will come with an adapter, console and controller just like the PS2 did 18 months earlier.
The quality of games could be interesting because the X-BOX line-up looks strong and will take some good games from the PS2 to topple X-BOX in that way. X-BOX has games like WWF RAW IS WAR and Resident Evil making an apperance on their platform which will take some beating but Metal Gear Solid 2, SSX Tricky, Pro Evolution Soccer and FIFA 2002 will all be out by then so it will give the X-BOX a run for its money in game sales.
The quality of the X-BOX just has to be seen to be believed. The graphics are of the highest quality and the DVDS will produce equality in quality allowing the X-BOX to be the home entertainment system. The PS2 does match the X-BOX in the fact that it will play DVD'S and highly graphical games but will still miss out on the sharpness and detail that the X-BOX pocesses.
The capabilities of the PS2 are still growing today with keyboards and internet available on it as well as producing online games. The X-BOX will surley be announcing similar features and matching Sony all the way as they hope to win the gamers over. X-BOX will also have Bill Gates behind it so anything is possible with the ideas that he can come up with.
An advantage for the X-BOX over the PS2 is that it will have four controller sockets instead of the two that the PS2 came out with. As well as multi-taps and extensions, God knows how many you will be able to play on the X-BOX at one time.
In my opinion , I think that the X-BOX will match the PS2 opening sales and probably go better because you do simply get great value for money with it, but I think the PS2 will still top the games charts because of the amazingly high quality of games that are going to be appearing on it at the time of the year. All in all, whatever one you get, you will be getting your moneysworth with the price of the PS2 still going down today. Its your choice.
The X-box looks very good indeed, excellent graphics and with a good line up of games. They have some top developers working with them, as does PS2, PS2 have ,more though. The the fact is i have seen nothing on X-box that the PS2 cant do. All the games look the same standard as all PS2 games, and for a console which is meant to be more powerfull, it really does not seem like that. Yeah, the games may be first gen, but now the 3rd gen PS2 games are coming out and they look better than anything on X-box.
I feel though, that because of the Microsoft PC link, the games maybe dominated by Strategy and 1st person shooters, i dont know though, i have not really kept up to date with there games.
For me, GC will be a lot more of a 'competator' to the PS2, there are some extremly addictive games coming on there, and they all look great.
Also another reason for getting it is the hardware it has for no extra cost you get an 8gig hard drive and a modem, I have a PS2 and I know that to enjoy these you need I think £200(though uncomfirmed I'm sure the price is gonna be around this much coz of the size of the HD) which you could get a GC and if you added £100 you get an xbox.
So basically I wanna get the GC only for Resi but I may not because I dont think its worth it just for one game(thats my opinion).
The reason that I'm saying this is that I cant afford to get both the xbox and the GC at launch but I definetly want the xbox if Resi is going to be a long way before it gets to another console I'll hace to get the GC just for one game.
