19:24 The console war of words upped a couple of notches this week, as top brass from all sides took to the stage to give their own rallying cries at the first Annual ELSPA Games Summit in London.
Microsoft was represented by corporate VP for retail sales and marketing Peter Moore, who gave a keynote address earlier today, outlining Microsoft's longterm direction for Xbox.
And comments made by former Sega of America President Moore to us recently provide a crystal clear account of why the company believes its strategy is the best way forward. Asked if Microsoft was planning its own entry into handheld gaming, following the revelation of the PlayStation Portable at E3, Moore told us: "We're not in that business and there are no plans to be in that business right now."
Explaining this stance, he added: "If I believe, which I do, in the social aspects of gaming, at the furthest end of the gaming spectrum against that is handheld gaming, because that's a very solitary, time-killing activity.
"It's not something you share - we believe that the future is the social element of gaming, and that's going to be done through a console, not through a handheld gaming device."
And on the subject of connectivity, Moore launched into a stinging attack on Nintendo's key E3 focus, stating: "When I was at Sega we did that [GC/GBA connectivity] with Sonic Advance - and the consumer went [shrugs shoulders] big deal! Someone's yet to explain to me the value of hooking up your handheld device to your console."
Seemingly throwing the gauntlet down to his competitors he added: "If somebody can tell me what the value of [connectivity] is, I'm all for it." We're assuming Nintendo might have something to say on that matter...
Microsoft's position is clear: it believes wholeheartedly in the future of gaming as a social activity revolving around the myriad possibilities offered by its hardware and Xbox Live. So don't go holding your breath for that handheld Xbox anytime soon."

> Titawhirl...What ever anyone does, you just moan at.
What the hell are you droaning on about now?
Show me 10 cases where all i've done is moan. This is a discussion site, we discuss thing, people have different views, it's not moaning it's putting forward different views. Jesus, is it really that hard to grasp the concept?

Yes that's right TGM, do you know my friends? do you really know anything about me? no didn't think so.
I have recently moved house, where I live now out of the few new friends I have made, only 1 really enjoys games. I have friends who will play them if there's nothing else to do, but they're not exactly enthusiastic about them.
Where I lived before though I had quite a few friends who were into games, we used to have regular multiplayer sessions, started right back in the SNES days and went all the way through to me getting my Cube. In that time I played a hell of a lot of multiplayer games and one of those believe it or not, was Powerstone 2 on the Dreamcast. I loved it in single player but it was crap in multiplayer, the original was a hell of a lot better, it was less complicated and much more fun because the levels weren't so sodding busy.
Do you get me now or are you gonna question more things about me that your really know absoloutly nothin about?
I suggest we try and stay well away from each other, you annoy the sh-t out of me and at this rate I'm gonna end up putting my fist through my monitor.

That David Gosen. *sighs*
I love the NGC pi*s take all through the current issue.
Its excatly arrogance like that that has made the GC seem so frail (which I think is rubbish......but its not doing quite as well as we all want)

Yes and?
Maybe, I don't like either of the games, ever thought of that?
Jeebus is it really that hard to think that for a minute. I've played both games in 4 player multiplayer and they sucked balls, everyone who was playing agreed that they sucked balls, boredom reared its ugly face after about 10 minutes play so we *gasp* went down the pub.

I love mutliplayers you fool. I just happen to think that KFC is a load of balls and that Powerstone 2 doesn't work well in multiplayer. once again I state my opinions and you seem to have come up with the idea that I was telling you that your opinions were wrong and starting an argument.
I give up I really do, nothing seems to get through to you.

I never questioned yours or Alistairs opinions you mong. Stop getting involved in arguments that a) you're not part of and have no understanding of and b) Ended yesterday and were completly based on a comment that was totally misunderstood.

I stand corrected.
Nintendo are pathetic as well.

I leave the forums for 15 or so hours and this post is turned into some fanyboy-battleground.
Anyway. I beleive the GC/GBA thing is a load of balls, Nintendo are investing into it too much. This Sega dude is correct in some ways, No-one really gives a fook about this connectivity crap.
And yes, Seems wierd....12 months ago I was a pure Xbox fanboy.
Oh those were the days.....*wipes tear from eye*
Not having a did lads, don't get angry at me. I'll proably find it funny anyway.
