First of all, this post is aimed at know one in particular, and i dont want to cause anyone any offence. I know what im about to say will do me no favours, but i feel it needs to be said before this problem gets worse. The Sony forum is becoming a spammers heaven.
Yes, im afraid it is. Everyday i log on and find in the majority of the topics, just endless pages of chat. I admit, all the forums have this, some even worse, but the problem here is starting to get out of hand. In the past few weeks we have had 4 topics started that have no relevance to gaming at all, the Longest Thread is an exception, but there are others that need not be here.
The Forum may be near the top of the ratings column, but its there for the wrong reasons, its there because of the large amount of spam. It used to be there because there were many disccusions going on, and people replied to argue there point throughout the topic. Now though, after few replies, the post go way off the topic leading to spam.
Im not saying that we all do this to a huge extent, and im not saying i dont do it either, but there are people who do this way more than I, and others. Im not asking for it to be stopped either, its good we can come here and chat, and talk about games, but does nearly every topic have to go up this road? And come to be a chatting topic. All im asking is that can chat only take place in one or two topics, mainly the Longest Thread topic. We dont need to keep being told that GTA 3 will be the greatest game ever many times over. Yes i do this with Pro Evo soccer, but i try to always come up with reasons why to buy it and not ect.
There are some great people who come here to post, and all of them i like to think i get on with. Everyones opinions, in my mind are all valid, and i will take into account everything that is said by you all. But i get tired of reading streams of chat ect. Is it possible to keep this in one place?
I hope i have not offended anyone by writing what i feel, i just wanted people to start to understand what the forums used to be about, and still are, but not to the same extent. Its something i feel that needed to be said.

more people coming in is due to the fact that more people are getting a PS2 we should have a code of conduct here rules that we all agree on and if some one breaks one of the rules we report them?
Yeah spamming is a problem nowadays and I really hope we can do somethign about it

its good how everyone keeps smackdown 3 in the smackdown 3 topic.hopefully it will stay like that as we get closer to the games release. that way we wont have a repeat of what happened when gt3 was released, and there was loads of topics.

what topics are you refering to?
Most posts are respected, but spamming can become an issue, maybe SR should have some sort of self-designating box where you can select which degree of respect you would like for your post. Obviously this would depend upon people sticking to the system and not ignoring it, but even if we ourselves pioneered it in the Sony forum just by writing what we want for our post in the top line, and see if it works.
