"Sequels What's Wrong With Them?"

i've seen many letters in many magazines complain about the number of sequels on the playstations. I'm just wondering if these people are complaining about Metal Gear Solid 2 coming out because that's a sequel.
The fact is there's nothing wrong with sequels as long as they do actually change. Something like the Final Fanatsies are good sequels seeing as the game totally changes with a new cast and new areas to explore and nearly everything changes.
However something like the Tomb Raider series are not good sequels. Most of the tomb raider games are "ooooh look Lara can now jump and do an inward pike into the water" something which hardly effects the gameplay. another major culprit is the fifa games. who put a few new leagues in and claim it's a whole new game.
sequels like this give the true proper sequels like MGS2 and GTA3 a bad name. as long as the game is varied enough from it's original and has many more improvements than it doesn't matter if it's got a 2 or a 1000 in front of it you should still buy it.
i mean i would rather have a great game like MGS2 come out even though it's a sequel than have a mediocre original games come out. fact is developers are looking to make money if they hit on an idea everyone likes they're not going to say "oh we won't do another one it won't be original" they'll make another in the series to try and get even more money as they know it should sell well

Thanks for the advice but I made that mistake at the launch of PS2 it was part of the games I paid extra for with the deals they had in Dixons.

That means then Fifa 2001 must have been a much worser nightmare than ISS 2000.

The reason why it got a good review was that at the time, it was the best football game about. Its crap, but better than Fifa 2001.

Also, when the PS2 was released,a lot of mags were giving grades on the graphics, not game play. Thats why lots of early games got good marks.

Yeah SSX Tricky should be a very good title. People who have not purchased the original SSX should get this game in my opinion. I got my PS2 when SSX Tricky was already announced and I just didnt fancy spending £40 on a game that is going to be improved in just few months

A sequal that is going to be good is SSX Tricky ive played on teh demo today and it's brilliant im getting SSX Tricky for X-Mas or if i can win GAD i can it when it gets out

ok kcet makes the iss pro evolution soccer games you know the ones that get 97% and has nearly every magazine drooling over them.
kceo make the iss games that really are just n64 ports over to playstation if you want the best soccer game you want the pro evolution series which is made by kcet

But how come ISS 2000 has very good reviews even by PSM2 who never give 100% showing how critical they are about their reviews. They gave it 80% it deserved less.

So when I'm at my local video game store and see a footy sim made by Kceo I should put it back quickly and dont even think of buying it but if its made by kcet its a good one. But to be serious this has made really think twice when I getting a game by kceo or eve never.
