Just wondering what a decent set of speakers would be to get?

PLease note I don't know jack all so quoting a load of tech speak will mean nothing to me, I'm just looking for a decent set, not top of the range, i've got £100-£200 to spend.

I also am considering gertting surround sound for my xbox but know little about speakers. I was wondering if its possible to use a PC speaker system consisting of 4 speakers and a subwoofer. If it is possible, can/will the TV act as the front/5th speaker. I don't really have the cash to spend on a new 5.1 system. Thanks

Splinter Cell, where you're hiding in the darkness and a guard walks past you...his footsteps sound from the left and an echo towards the right when he walks past you...SUPERB!

Bar Enter the Matrix I haven't come across a really bad Dolby Digital mix. The only problem with multiplayers is that there isn't any speaker to speaker transfer as two players are playing on the screen at once. Dolby Digital simulates what is on screen with the position of your speakers. When stuff disappear of screen you can hear them in their respective speaker depending on where it is. A Good example is bullet time in Max Payne where you can hear the bullets flying past you into the back speakers and as the environments crumble you can hear the bits dropping all around.

Genius!

Of course, I am assuming you have a scart cable as well...

I got this for my Xbox the other day...

Check it out. It arrived promptly, is under £200, and also features a built in radio tuner for the system as well as one of the coolest remotes I've seen. It really is excellent. Then all you need is a fibre optic lead and away you go! The speaker cables are incredibly long and the speakers can be wall mounted and angled out. This is a very professional system and I can't recommended it enough. If you pay an extra £4, they'll courier it to you via 24 hours delivery - you could have it on Wednesday!

My heart almost exploded when I played multiplayer Halo. Splinter Cell is excellent with it as well.

Best to stick with a complete set. If you start mixing the Amp with different speakers it becomes a pain and things can go wrong. For a reasonably decent one you are looking at £200 upwards. A good one to look for is the Yamaha TSS1 which will cost around £250 including everything. You also need an advanced scart cable which has the optical input required to connect your Xbox to your amp.

Just wait until you get one and you will see what I have gone on about. Just you wait...
