However, as you will probally know, many of the PS2's top class games are being released in the run up to christmas. Pro Evo, GTA 3, DMC, Burnout, Herdy Gerdy, Jack and Dax, Smackdown 3 and more. These are all considered to be the first batch of the games that will really prove Sonys power in the console market all over again. Most of the games all have both top graphics and excellent gameplay, eg. DMC and Pro Evo. Both contain excellent quality graphics, in Pro Evo players are created to look like real players, incuding there faces, and the gameplay is some of the best in any football games. DMC will be great too, good too, the gameplay consist of puzzle solving and destroying eneimies, and killing them has never been as fun than it is with this. Constantly changing between guns and your sword. The graphics are equally as good.
The question is though, why have we had to wait a year to finally get these games? How come, just in one area of the year, a big list of games come out for the talking.
Well, the PS2 is suppose to be a little hard to get to grips with when making games, so maybe the developers have just been practising, or really taking there time so to make the games a good as they can possible get. Many of these games are though out in the other usual countrys already. So maybe it was a smart move by Sony to wait to get them released nearer to Christmas, or even nearer to the price drop that has recently taken place in order to make more people buy the already succesful black console.
The fact that we are getting the games now, is good. But it does have a down side. There are many good games coming out all at once, and many people will want lots of them but can not afford them. People like me who dont have a full time job and only have a part time one will possible not be able to get all the games we want. If they were released earlier in the year, 2 at a time say, then we may have been able to get more. Thankfully though, christmas is nearly here, and those lucky ones amongst us will possible get a game or too on that day.
But at least now, the good games are about to be released, giving us some excellent gaming, and proving that we really did make a good choice in console.
There is no better time to be a PS2 owner than it is now.
Cheers.
I still don't have any regrets about buying the ps2 a year ago, its impressed me so far and even with only a few quality games it has impressed many other people, many of my friends are now buying ps2's or already own one, xmas is definately the time to buy, and now at £199, you can't fall off for that price, i gurentee you, the ps2 will and should be this years number one xmas present, the games coming out will really begin to convince the critics that the ps2 is the best console.
People have said "there are not many must have titles", but in my opinion, i would rather wait a year to get properly developed games with great graphics and gameplay, then rushed games, and if u look at the upcoming releases, there is just so much choice for the different gamers, you would be a fool not to own a PS2.
I agree that people cannot affaord all of the games coming, but that means you always hae another game to look forward to in the future.
The future for the PS2 is brighter than ever
I think that developers did have a hard time getting to grips with the playstation 2 and took they're time to get the games as good as possible to provide a great gaming experience.
As for the price drop, Sony probably did think that dropping the price and adding some great games around the same time would sell some units, thats probably what it will do.
Its never been a better time to be a Playstation 2 owner than when it was first released and you could say "yeah, I've got a Playstation 2, they're awesome".
Great post Pro Evo.
