But all of that has changed. Nintendo is seeking revenge, and is determined to shine once again via GameCube. They aren't going to be beaten as easily this time. GameCube has a much larger medium, it's easy as heck to develop for, as much, if not easier than Xbox, moreover it is balanced with great graphics, sound, speed, you name it, GameCube has it when it comes to games. PS2 is going the route of N64 so far. Being that it too is hard to develop for, and costs a lot of green to make good games for it. But it still has a lot of support. PS2 has the advantage of a big head start, but lately the PS2 hype has greatly died down. Only the games like FF, GT3 A-spec, Twisted Metal Black, and Metal Gear Solid 2 are keeping this system in the hype zone.
This Fall, Xbox is going to be going after the same exact audience as PS2 is after. So I believe this will hurt PS2 more than it will GameCube. GameCube is a guaranteed success! It's got everything going for it. It has every big named game you can think of. (Final Fantasy is rumored to come to GameCube). Plus it has so many games that are AAA titles that you just can't get on any other system. Perfect Dark 2, Zelda, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Sonic, Mario, Wave Race, Resident Evil 0, Eternal Darkness, Rogue Squadron 2; the list goes on and on. How many exclusives, that are actually good, can you find on PS2? A few maybe?
To clear up some confusion some might have, here's the run down:
1. GameCube is more powerful than PS2, and just as powerful as Xbox. GameCube first generation games are already exceeding PS2 3rd generation software.
2. There will be a GameCube/DVD hybrid version of GameCube available as well.
3. GameCube will also have online play capabilities.
4. GameCube will not just be the color purple (as some may think) but rather be sold in different colors. Pink for the ladies, Black for the guys, and any other colors like Blue, Silver, and purple for everyone as well.
5. GameCube will have great support this time around, and will have many more killer AAA titles than N64 ever dreamed of having!
6. GameCube will have many more
7. GameCube will have more Blockbuster hits at or near launch than PS2 has had in a year.
PS2 has had its moment to shine; now it's GameCube's turn. What stopped N64 from becoming a huge success is not, and cannot stop GameCube. Nintendo has dubbed GameCube as the anti-N64. And it is all part of the Ninty Factor.
Thanks for reading.
