Okay, well as you may have guessed, I have the disc-only version.

I have 3 memory cards - two were in use for games, the other unused. I initially used a card containing game-saves with Region X, and had no data-loss at all.

I have since used the blank memory card to store the DVD Remote driver update, and also have the Region X info saved on the same card.

It may not be ideal, but at the very least, it keeps everything in the one place and saves some of the faffing around!

OK, my understanding of the problem is this: (I've been helping someone out with this problem recently due to unintentionally acquired experience!!).

The previous version came with the key card and the disc.
When the disc boots up it uses the card to perform the various functions (saving the temporary region change etc).

Now though, you have to use a memory card (and don't even think about trying to used the Datel 16mb one for this) to store that information on.

The problem is (from people I've dealt with) that your memory card is taken over by Reg X, this has resulted (in the three cases I know of) COMPLETE removal of any data on the card being used, bye bye saves etc.

Datel, however, insist that once you've used Reg X once that you should be able to use the card as normal.

Unfortunately I can't confirm this and the only solution I can see is that to protect your existing saves you are going to need two memory cards.

So, this means (to be absolutely safe) that you will need to get an additional memory card. That is just ridiculous as far as I'm concerned, cutting corners even.

If anyone has the new version (and two memory cards) I'd love to find out what the results are. I just find it too much of a coincidence that three people have confirmed the same - all data on the memory card is lost.

Please reply if you can confirm/dispute what I've written - I'm genuinely interested.

It's a good solution but top tip - get the version that includes the memory card gizmo.

DON'T buy the one that just includes the boot disc - you'll regret it.
