I've plugged it in etc (and there are batteries in it). The red light flashes when I press a button, but nothing happens.
If I try to use the remote, to no avail, it then doesn't recognise commands from the joypad. So I have to reset my PS2, and use the joypad to watch my DVD's.
Any advice?

Buy the official Sony remote... it's

DVD Region X is nice, too!
Be warned, though - the new DVD drivers

This site may help.

It has new codes to update your DVD Region X to work with the correct drivers.
I haven't got either Region X or the remote so I can't confirm that it works.
Hope this helps.

Fantastic.
If the receiver is flashing when you press the remote then it IS getting a signal.
Problem is that the remote doesn't work with every function on the PS2.
Even the official remote doesn't control everything at all times as Port 1 is the prime port (not 2).
If you've got it plugged in to port 2 you may well find that quite often it doesn't work - hence, plug it in to port 1 and see if that helps.
If not - SEND IT BACK!!!
It's not a great remote but it should at least work!
:D

Sounds like it's knackered, mate. (The controller, not the PS2...)
I think someone else said they had trouble with the remote that SR supplied with the PS2... can't remember who it was, though.
Fantastic.
My passthrough port stopped working after a couple of weeks too and had to go back to joytech. I bought the official one in the meantime and I'm glad I did.
