Just out of curiosity, what are the average school hours these days, for ages of around 7 up to 16? And do they still give out homework?

I ask because we have some particularly noisy/irritating/annoying kids around here who I'm pretty sure do attend school, but seem to be home at very odd times.

When I were a lad (long time ago, I know), school hours ran from about 8:45 am until 4:40pm (primary school), with one 15-minute break in the morning, another in the afternoon, and an hour and a half for lunch.

Hours seemed to get shorter as I went through the school system, with shorter lunches, and starting at 9:00am and finishing at about 3:30pm.

These kids seem to be home before 3:00pm, because they're out playing (or rather, being a damn nuisance) from about 3:30 onwards until it gets dark - so either they don't get homework, or just don't do it.

My primary school was 9.00am to 3.00pm.
Secondary was 8.50am to 3.30pm.

I'm finished school now though, which is good.

For the first 5 years of school, it was 8:55 until 3:35, with 15 minutes for break and an hour for dinner. Then they changed it slightly, with five minutes less for break, less time for dinner (if I remember correctly) but more time in class. Then, in year 13, they totally changed it with 8:30 starting time, twenty minutes break and 50 minutes dinner with a 3:10 finish. Seemed daft, but they did it because the other schools they were video-conference...ing with would simply walk out at 3:10, so they changed our entire system just for that.

When I was at high school it was 8:55 to 3:25.

And homework is still given out, but don't expect any of the bus shelter scum to be doing it.

I never really did homework, or I did it before school.

Mine was from 8:40 until 3:40, that was from year 7-13, primary school, I think was from 8:50 until 3:30 but I'm not too sure on that one.
