This is a sort of guide for people who want to re-install windows, well its my story thing, or something.
Well it all started on the 22nd of September.
There is a time in every pc owners life when you have to undergo the re-installing of windows. You donít have to but when your pc comes up with error messages like ìwindows //skig.bat file missing or corruptedî Thatís when you know, it has begun.
So, I have only done it once before and my brother was right there beside me, actually he did it and I watched him. I thought on this Saturday morning I would re-install windows, it was crashing every 5 minutes and the whole thing was completely messed. I didnít have to but I knew that it was only a matter of time before the whole thing would collapse.
I rebooted windows with the floppy boot disk in.
Big mistake number one. I should have used the smart restore program that was in windows.
The boot disk loaded the drivers and things like that, then came to this screen which told me to insert the master cd 1. Ok, I put it in and pressed any key, then another screen came up, asking me what option to choose. I chose the safe restore option, it loaded then it said ìformat errorî ìWhat the F?î I said. Then the computer crashed. ìOh rightî I said. I rebooted and tried again, all those windows came up then I decided to choose another option.
Big mistake number 2. I should of left it and phoned my brother because he is a pc tech wizz.
Decision numberÖ 2 looked good. It was re-install windows. Just what I was looking for. ìFormat errorî
Oh, so its this again eh? I rebooted and tried again but this time, but as soon as I had put in the master cd it went straight to this format error message.
Thatís when I gave up, and left it until later.
About 7pm I phoned my brother and told him what happened etc etc and he told me what to do. I will keep it short. He basically said that I should try and get a windows 98 disk. My mate down the road had one so a wet 5-min trip was called for. I got back and told him. But it was no use. He did give me a windows 98 start up floppy though, so I put it in and we had some other options. After a 4 hour call, a lot of messing around with partitions and at one point he said ìWe have come to a grinding halt, you will have to wait until I come downî HEH! I suggested a few things and I tried them and low and behold it worked, it started re-installing its files the it asked for the second cd, in it went I put in the windows serial number and name etc etc then I told my brother thank you VERY much and passed him over to my dad. This was at 11pm remember!
It loaded up, I installed the printer drivers, and graphics card driver then went to sleep.
Next morning, I had to sort out my internet connection, I found an old freebie and installed it.
I went into my e-mail to download the internet connection rubbish then it churns out this message ìYou do not have access to this fileî
Oh lord, I tried again but nothing. I told my dad and asked if he could phone up BT and ask one of their tech guys. Darn, they close at 8pm and it was 8:05.
Next night, he phoned them and they said that they would send us a disk. Yes result! Not quite. This was on Monday the 24th and I am writing this offline on Saturday the 29th
GREAT! The disk hasnít even come! Dad phoned them but no luck, so I hope Monday will bring me some joy!
So I have been sitting around for a week wondering if anything has happened, have I been banned..??! Well anything!
I have forgot my SR password but hopefully they will send it to me. Basically Iím trying to say that if you do have to re-install windows only do it if it is necessary. Read all the instructions CAREFULLY and double-check everything.

So, well done united on their fantastic comeback. 3 nil down at half time, you donít stand a chance, but we showed them, we showed the world.
Our attacking force is blindingly good but our defence is in tatters. I think a few transfers are on their way.
I am pretty bored, I donít NEED to come back to the forums but I want to! I will stop now because I am just blubbering on about pretty much nothing.
