You ask anyone at all whether they've heard of Bruce Lee and they'll say 'yes'.

He had more of an effect on martial arts films than Jesus Christ had on......errrmmmm....the world!

I've just seen 'Way of the Dragon' on DVD and that is what gave me the idea to write a topic about Bruce Lee. Now I've seen it before, but not uncut. I have the VHS and it's his worst film because almost every fight scene has been cut. The DVD of the film however, is outstanding. It's the worst film cut, but it's possibly the best uncut. I won't go into the actual quality of the DVD, I'll leave that for a review but I will say a few things about the man himself.

First of all, after seeing a few of his films uncut, I've decided I want some nunchuks. The double nunchaku scene in 'The Way of the Dragon' is unbelievable. After seeing 'Fist of Fury', I was amazed at how good he was with one pair of nunchuks. That was amazing enough. After seeing 'Way of the Dragon' however, I was just........gobsmacked. Now that word sounds stupid I know but it's the only word I can think of which actually describes it. One pair of nunchuks, okay, but two!? Two pairs of nunchuks! Keeping control like that is enough but keeping control at that speed is just down right brilliant.

He truly is the master. At one point, he practices in front of a mirror. I paused it just before he punched and it took just one frame for him to completely extend his arm and then one more to bring it back. I mean that is just stupendously fast (if 'stupendously' is a word).

If you're still not impressed then what about kicking a light bulb suspended 8 feet in the air. 8 feet!!! He wasn't exactly a big guy either so it was even more impressive.

Bruce Lee in my opinion, is just one of the coolest guys around (or was one of the coolest guys around). His facial expressions in his films are on par with Vince Mcmahon and that's no easy feat. When his lips raise slightly, you know there's about to be trouble (or rather you know someone's about to get beaten severely).

I've been a huge fan of Bruce Lee for quite a few years now and I've seen all his films (that I know of). I think 'Way of the Dragon: Uncut' has got to be my favourite although I've got 'Game of Death' coming through the post as well and I have very high hopes for that. Cut, it's the best. Uncut.....well, I'll have to wait and see.

To finish off, I'd just like to say, does anyone know if nunchuks are illegal in the UK? I want a pair desperately but I don't know whether or not they're legal. I think they probably are but my friend thinks otherwise and the nunchaku scenes were cut from the original releases of his films over here.

Yep, I'm getting myself a pair of nunchuks. Hard rubber, black with a gold dragon. And I'm getting my friend the same pair as well. Who will be better? Only time will tell.

What?! They cut out the nunchuka scene?! That's the best bit of Bruce Lee films, the nunchuka fights! You can buy a nunchuka for ten quid, and a self-tutor book for about eight, but how ever much money you spend, you'll never be able to use a nunchuka as well as Bruce Lee, full stop. I can't believe they cut it out, it was still 18 rated wasn'y in? If it was then they should have b****y well kept it in there! The hall of mirrors scene at the end is just the best though! Bruce Lee against a guy with an inter-changeable prostetic hand, who happens to attach on, a.....how can you describe it? You now, the thing with all the razor blades on it. Still, it's a brilliant fight scene anyway!!

"wherever he goes in this dog-eat-dog world, he'll be admired by all"

The last (and worst) line in Way of the Dragon. Bruce did right the script so I suppose he had the right to say how great he was.

Well put.

I bought Enter the Dragon as well, Now they're releasing it again in a box set. That's happened to me 3 times now. It's ridiculous. It happened with Seven, Armageddon and now this.

I've ordered Game of Death from Play247 but it's not in stock so I'm waiting......patiently.

*bites lip, looks at clock*

Come on, come on.

*looks at clock at again*

I can handle this.

Bruce Lee is a Martial Legends, and will always be remebered. I have been a huge fan of Bruce Lee's for almost Ten years now, and I must have seen each of his films hundreds of times.

I did have all of his videos, but I have got rid of them scince the DVD's have started to be released. At the moment, my best DVD's are:

1. Fist of Fury - I love the fight scene in the Japanese Dojo, especially when he get's out the nunchucks and starts to roll all over the floor whacking all of the Japanese students feet. Brilliant to say the least. I also like the final two fights as well.

2. Game of Death: Platimum Edition - This has only just been released, and I must say, it is amazing. With two discs in the package, you get the fully uncut film, deleted scenes, and tonnes of extra features on the second disc.
The final four fights are brilliant, especially the first of the four, when he uses a weird whip stick and the Nunchucks, and watching Bruce Lee and his opponent show off with the nunchucks was brilliant.

3. Way of the Dragon - The fight scene where he uses two nunchucks is brilliant, and he just shows how skilled and lethal he is with the nunchuck. And that final showdown with Chuck Norris was superb, with amazing combos.

4. Big Boss - This was a good film, with good fight scenes in there to keep the hardened Bruce Lee fans happy. But no nunchucks. I know, he is just as good without them, but he uses them so well, he should have used them in this film as well.

5. Enter the Dragon - You may be wondering why this is bottom. Well, I was a little disappointed by this DVD. It is still good, but the nunchuck sequence was cut out, as were several other scenes. But all is not lost. It is being released again, completely uncut. I can't wait.

There were a couple of niggle with Game of Death that were a bit, how can I put this, annoying. What they did, is took scenes from Way of the Dragon, and edited them into this film. Ok, so it means that he is it a bit more than he was before, but still. And some of those still images of him make it look really shabby as though he was pasted over the stand in character. But well, it doesn't matter to much.
And the reason that he wasn't in all of this was because he died half way through making it, as has already been said.
Half way through filming Game of Death, he went off and filmed Enter the Dragon. Of course, three weeks after filming finished, he went into a Coma and died, so he never got to finish Game of Death.

It is so annoying. Just imagine all of the great films that he could have made. It is a real shame and tragedy.
The best Mart8ial Artist ever born is Bruce Lee, and he will remain a legend for decades to come.

Kareem, that was his name. He gave up basketball to become a full time student of Bruce's though. I think.

That's Kareem Abdul Jabaar, he used to play basketball (rather well) for the LA Lakers in the late 70's early 80's. He was in Airplane as well, playing the Co-Pilot.

Bruce Lee kicked butt though, no doubt about that. I love watching his films.

Bruce Lee's hardly in Game of Death - he makes an appearance at the end when he's fighting those 4 blokes. And the last bloke he fights then has been cut-n-pasted from different scenes.

The editing and dubbing is laughable, but the final confrontation is good.
