Age of Empires 2 is fantastic! But you need the expansion pack to make the most of the game. Try looking for that on ebay aswell.
And get Rise of Nations - The "step up" from AoE.

Yup, in my opinion - just reinstalled all of my Age of.. titles, never got in to AOE2 quite as much as the others, but they're making a nice change from FPSs for a while.
Yes it is. Well I only ever play it over my little LAN but it's good there.
