Has anyone else wired their Xbox up to their stereo?
Well if not then do it (as long as your stereo can take audio in-out) it sounds excellent, some how it just makes the game seem better having excellent sound quality and a good bass.
Its really simple to do and it sounds very good, although the sound In and out on the Xbox scart lead are not very long, so unless you have a spare stereo which you can put near it and use just for the xbox then you may want to buy a long lead.
But it is worth it.

Heh!

Virtual Dolby is BS. The speakers are angled to give the effect that sounds are coming from all around. Dolby Digital systems have speaker to speaker transfers and a much wider range of frequencys for different pitches of sound.

Yeah I agree. Although you can get some good sounding bass from stereo etc. Dolby Digital is a lot more targeted for bass and the surround (hearing things from behind left, right etc) there is nothing quite like it.

Have you heard Dolby Digital before the chap who has stereo?

But its still stereo and not a patch on Dolby Digital. Believer me there is a HUGE difference. Speaker to speaker transfer, frequencys from 1 -20,000hz and a fantastic quality of sound. Its something totally different to stereo and something much much better.

Yeah I have a DTS/5.1 as well and it puts Stereo to shame.

Worth the upgrade as you can enjoy DVD's with the surround as well.

For 2 channel stereo sound just get yourself 2 phono sockets and hook them up to their respective connections on the back of your stereo AMP.

For Dolby Digital you will need to wire it up via the Optical output socket on the Advanced Scart. Simple to do once you get your head around it and it makes a massive difference to the audio in games.

If you want to know any specific details just ask and I will help :)

*Waits for abuse*

I have a Dolby Digigtal/DTS surround sound system and yes its the bees knees. One of the best decisions I have ever made was getting this system.

I split my wire to pieces to do it. And yeah - the sound is better, but, if you have enough funds and want optimal sound, a 5.1 kit is what you should be looking out for.
