This thread could do with some more life injected into it, and guess who's the man to do just that?
Well, we couldn't get anyone else, so unfortunately, you get me.

Anyway, here's the plan.
I pick a game, and set a challenge for it. Any game, any challenge.

You, if you have said game, sod off and play on it for a while, and try and get the best result for the challenge tnat you can.

Then, after a week, a winner is chosen, and that winner can set a challenge, however if they fail to set a new challenge within 3 days, I shall start a new one, because we wanna keep things moving.

Rules:
1) We're relying on you for honesty, but if it becomes blatantly obvious your cheating, then we shall ignore all future input by you into this thread. Obvious things would be ridiculous socres on some challenges, or continuosly posting a new best everytime someone else tops your score. I will also be more likely to trust regulars I know, sorry, thats the way it is, except newbies are more than welcome to enter.
2) When setting a challenge, bear in mind it's a week's challenge, so don't start tasks like 'how long can you finish Gran turismo 3 in with all golds', we want short threads.
3) You choose the game, yes, but if it becomes apparent that no-one has the game you chose you shall be told to find a better, more widely owned game and a new challenge.
4) No starting challenges for games that are imported or solely online.
5) Don't use cheats. Come on, play fair.
6) You can select to set up a challenge involving a cheat, so for example 'how many points can you get on tony hawks with the flying cheat'. In this instance, the cheat must be posted up with the challenge, and I'm afraid I won't accept Cheat cartridge cheats, only ones that everyone can use.
7) You can post your new challenges either in here or preferably in a new thread, but If anyone forgets I shall start a new thread for them including their challenge and crediting them.
8)Please. Play fair, have fun, don't cheat. Let's make it work. Enjoy your PS2s.

First ever challenge: Gran Turismo 3.
Okay, nice and straight forward for the first challenge. I want you to pick any car you own, take it onto the track and do the maximum speed test. Post your scores here, along with the car so we have some proof that you know what your talkin about.

I'll start:
212mph, in a souped up Mazda MX-5.

Enjoy. Don't cheat.

It's just a game. Real life has the problem where if you crash into a barrier at 1300kmh you'd not bounce off unharmed.

Try it. I'm not lying!

Sorry, still don't believe you. I understand how you can get the front end off the ground, but you're even saying you have to ADD downforce to get the car to top speed. No chance!

Do you think that guy who broke the land-speed record knows that a Toyota Le Mans car can thrash his record just by shifting the downforce to the rear???

Nah, you can, I've done it before.

Tune it's horsepower up as high as it can go, using the NA tuning or the turbo, whatever gets it higher.

Put the downforce at the front to zero and at the back to as high as it can go.

Put the spring rate and the ride height at minimum for the front and the back.

Fiddle about with the gears until the car goes as fast as possible, with as little as possible acceleration. I can't wuit remember how to do it, I think you have to set it to as wide as possible, and do something to the final gear ratio. It might be to put it as low as possible or maybe as high as possible, experiment with both. What you want is the lines showing the ratios to be as long as possible.

Set the ASM and TCS to 0.

Go onto the maximum speed test thing and just drive. Of course with the front of the car off the ground, you can't steer but you just bounce off the barriers. You might not get that fast because you don't have that much track to do it in, but if you go backwards for a couple of laps get the fastest you can get, then turn around again, you only have to finish the lap.

*NOTE: this is all with the Toyota GT1 RACE VERSION, with road cars you have to buy lots of parts.

B*ll*cks! I do not believe you can get a car to over 1300kph, that's ridiculous! You would be travelling at close to twice the speed of sound! I don't think GT would allow a bug like that to exist.

Actually I won't because it will just ruin the challenge. But you know if you've done it right when the front rises.

If you fiddle about with a Toyota GT1 racing version you can get over 1300kmh.

I'll try and find you the site which shows you how to tune it.

Nice idea.
KR I suggest a deadline too so we all know when one challenge ends and another begins. May I?
