My PC, running Windows XP, came with a Soudblaster Live 5.1 Digital Card - definitely a card and not onboard as it has all the connections and they are in the place for a card.
Under Windows XP Device Manager, where it lists everything you have in the PC and the driver, the driver is simply "Creative Soundblaster Live Driver (WDM)".
Now I know WDM stands for Windows Driver Model, a generic type of driver yes ?
So, I go to creative's site, download the new proper drivers, install and get as far as setup with the message;
"Creative Soundblaster Live Setup could not detect and Soundblast Hardware on your system. Please check before trying setup again."
This then screws the existing driver which has to be reinstalled.
I've tried using update driver, removing the driver and restarting, everything !
Anyone else got a similar configuration and actually updated the driver ?

Thas ok then. Normal discs are usually fooled by region hacks like DVD Genie but RCE proves harder. Never really looked into getting one that fools an RCE movie as my DVD drive is set to region 1 anyway so I dont need to bother fooling the disc.
i still don't get it, but at least i feel like a right complete set of b****rds

Probably 'cause it's got a digital out, which previous models didn't ?
You can get analog sound, in fact unless your speakers are connected by an optical wire thing then it's analogue sound - I think.

i notice that my room gets excessively hot when i am playing a first peron shooters with my sound on. even though the sound is only 1/4 of it's full output, it fries me like a super-microwave, and the room gets hot and muggy.....
it's also got a very bassy bassbox that's on the floor about 3 inches from my very low to the ground chair. so then it also vibrates, which is Pleasurable "ahem" but also hot...
it's not like you can get analog sound can you?
Your DVD driver on your PC should be a multi-region one anyway as drives are set to a region when bought so they are region free, unless you got a computer from a company who may set DVD drives sold in their PCs to region 2. Region 1 DVDs can be a problem on DVD drives that are multi-region as RCE movies will probably not play on a DVD drive that has no region set.
Yes, my bedroom is a mess of wires, technology, and when all is turned on, probably generates enough excess heat to dispense with the need for radiators....

Will you be only using this with you PC? Or will you want to hook it up to your DVD player or any consoles you have?
SR - get a real time stock count on the site...
